Don't know what to do anymore
So yesterday I replaced my radiator with an OEM one, (i was having some problems with it obviously.) I did the job completely with the help of a mechanic, burped the system and everything.
So I drive the car about 20 miles and as soon as i pull into a parking spot, my coolant started to "Boil over", there was a large pool of coolant, and the gauge shot up to the red zone. And i am not sure if my fan is kicking in because i could not hear it, i did not check to see if it was on yet. |
Thermostat, coolant bottle, radiator cap, blocked fans... something else is busted still.
My bet would be on inoperative fans. The airflow while driving kept the temp at bay, coming to a stop stopped the airflow and temp shot up. Did you plug them in? Clean connectors? nothing in the fan blades preventing them from working? Time to start re-checking work. |
When you "burped" the system, did you do the heater core too?
|
what did your coolant look like? i had a problem a few years back after i flushed my coolant. the flush must have loosened up some crud and it blocked the brass restrictor in the small coolant line that goes to the top of the bottle

I don't know anything about this car in particular, but in general, if you're not over heating while moving, but do at a stand still, then your fan is not doing its job.
|
check the fan fuse in the fuse box under the hood.
|
Thanks guys I found the problem. (Blown fuse of course!) I was just getting very frustrated. but cross my fingers the problems have been fixed. Thanks for all of the support.
|
blown fuse causes coolant overflow and severe overheat? You do realize that if your cluster water temp gauge pegs that chances are you cooked your water seals?
