Clutch bites hard in the morning
Ive been noticing recently that when i get in my 8 in the morning the clutch like to release and grab all at once. This only happens after it has sat all night and if i pump it a few times it will return to normal. Has anyone had this happen and should i be worried?

When was the last time you flushed/bled the slave cylinder?

Right. Similar function but separate components (though they share hydraulic fluid and reservoir).
Any time I hear about behavior of hydraulic systems changing after sitting a while, my first thought it air/contaminants in the fluid. Honestly, it's a good idea to flush/bleed if you don't know when it was last done; these are not systems to want to skimp on. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, take it to a shop and have them do the brakes and the clutch at the same time. |

If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, take it to a shop and have them do the brakes and the clutch at the same time. The hydraulics for the clutch use brake fluid and is filled through the tank as if adding fluid for the brakes themselves. The only difference being that id be pressing the clutch pedal instead of brake and bleeding from the clutch (or the associated part) instead of brake caliper. Also could this also be why it kinda hard to feel the bite point in my clutch pedal itself or is that just a byproduct of years and miles? |
