Bilstein B12 PRO Kit
Hi all, have just finished installing the Bilstein b12 Pro-Kit for my RX-8. I ordered my yearbook through 4wd/Bilstein world in New South Wales, and cannot more highly recommend there services. I did pay a bit of a premium for the compared to eBay gear from Germany, but having local support and backup plays a big part into my selection of after market gear. Ordered shocks and sorings Thursday afternoon, had the shocks Tuesday and spring set Monday. The kit consisted of Bilstein b8 lowered shocks and eibach coils matched to the shocks dampening characteristics. Easy enough install, about 6ish hours all to complete. Car is sitting about 1’ lower so far but cannot rave enough about this kit. Brake dive is eliminated, and the confidence and grip in corners is unbelievable, while maintaining good gentle straight line cruising comfort. If you are considering cheap coilovers I would suggest this kit instead as the Quilty and name are there and the car is sitting sweet, looking fast and handles like a go-Kat; no crashy feeling at all

I tried that kit back in 2013 on my S2 car. I agree the feel was much improved, but my car had over an inch or rake, as the rear was set quite high. For that reason, I recommend the B14 PSS kit for all S2 cars, which have different rear suspension geometry than S1 cars. It should have worked in theory, as both shocks and springs were replaced, but it did not work in practice. I even tried flipping the front spring perches to compensate, which helped, but did not completely solve the problem. I ended up with PSS9s and eventually Ohlins.

Steve, how did the Ohlins go, and what model of Ohlins? Love my bilsteins, theyre still tight and feel nice, but just something about some Swedish gold that I love. Also, are you running after market sways?

The Ohlins were great. I might have started a bit of an Ohlins revolution around here. You will find plenty if you search. I was running a Progress MX-5 front sway (stiff on an MX-5 and medium on an RX-8) and a stock rear.
