Bhr ignition coil kit

I just received my BHR ignition kit and there’s no bracket, spacers or wiring harnesses, did something change or am I missing something here?

Jedi54 03-21-2019 11:00 PM

where did you order from?
do you have the new kit he just started selling or the original style?
The original style included coils, bracket, and plug wires.

In looking at BHR's site, it appears the new gloabally compliant coils are shipped out as ordered.
There appear to be options that include:
- single coil
- 4 coils
- coils plus wires
- coils, wires, and spark plugs

so it sounds like maybe you only ordered the individual coils?

Did you buy direct from BHR? Charles is usually pretty responsive, send him an email or give him a call.

I bought directly from BHR. The full kit “coils wires spark plugs” I just didn’t know if he recently redesigned them and we no longer need the wire adapter or bracket

Jedi54 03-21-2019 11:22 PM

can you post a picture?
I'll be able to tell right away which version of the kit you have.

do yours look like this?

Yes

Jedi54 03-21-2019 11:37 PM

my advice, double check your order and if you were charged correctly just email Ray @ BHR and he'll make it right.

The new globally compliant coils do not require the adapter harness or bracket that came in BHR's original kit. The new coils are direct replacements for the stock coils. I just installed my set last night. Just remove your old coils and replace them with the ones Charles sent you.

yup! seems like a much more straight forward upgrade but the OP also seems to be missing components from his order.

did you get a response from Ray regarding the wires and plugs you added to your order?

lostphoenix 03-23-2019 11:25 AM

Sorry. Yes, I spoke with Charles and these are the new design. No adapter, spacer or brackets needed. Completely plug and play

BCSpazer 03-23-2019 04:28 PM

Can confirm as well - they are plug and play - just swapped mine today and went in without a hitch.

I wish he had the new ones available last month... I ended up with some other brand 585s

Unless you were in dire need of replacement coils, I would have waited for the BHR coils. Plug and play so no additional harness to add possible points of failure and no additional bracket to squeeze into the engine bay.

Dang this new design looks slick, I just bought these a few months back and had the spacers and everything haha. Wish the timing had been better, would have been a much cleaner install.

Agreed, I just installed the original version this past weekend that I bought used a few months ago. While its a pretty straight forward install there really isnt a lot of spare room around the ignition components. Its a tight fit but worked out ok. This new version looks pretty slick, much better design.

Is there a benefit to getting the old kit with the bracket? (is it even still available?)
I remember replacing my coils with oem ones and the metal plate they mounted to was nasty rusty. Would rather have had a new plate to mount them to.

They are available but on backorder until April 1. You could get a new plate and ignition coils from Mazda. It's all that's really needed to be honest.

thanks

The only benefit I can think of is you can find a used set for cheaper than the new version.

But otherwise no. I wish I waited just a little longer to pick these up.
