is it bad to redline all the time?
so far ive driven my rx8 for about a week now and i pretty much have been driving it like i stole it... 7-9k shifts all the time taking it up to 80 and back down quickly i understand the engine needs it every once in a while but is it bad to do it too much it might be a bad question or a really good one because everyone thinks im stressing the engine too much... so is it a bad idea to treat it like a race car all the time? or should i drive it civilly more often... (but i dont wanna because race car)

It's fine if you do it. If you're going out of your way to shift that high then no, it's not at all necessary. Your fuel consumption will suffer for doing that though since it's popping in and out of open loop constantly.
Personally I usually shift from 4-6k depending on the speed, but I end up at 7-9k once or twice per drive. |
^ Agree with Legot. I too shift between 4,000 and 6,000 with an occasional climb above 7,000 just for fun when I'm on the street.
Another thought: if you drive it like you would on a track, you need to maintain it like you would a track car. That means very frequent fluid changes with premium fluids, etc. |
With good maintenance the vehicle should theoretically be able to run at race pace, provided it isn't having issues. I would recommend some gauges for monitoring purposes. Pre 09 models can benefit from premix as well. Preventative measures can go a long way.
Make sure you let it cool down before turning it off and warm up before going HAM. Have fun! |
I certainly hope not!

Basically just dont rev it high and then shut it off. Almost treat it like a turbocharged car; if you beat on it, give the turbo time to spool down. I leave mine just 1-2 minutes after driving everytime. Probably unnecessary but a little peace of mind imo.
I plan to use Redline: FD3s & 13B-RE OMP Kit I have heard .5-1 oz to a gallon of gas depending on how hard you drive. Quoting another thread "Two-stroke oil has a strong attraction to metal surfaces, and a lower flash point." It will seal slightly better, but the power gain will likely be unnoticed. Heads up, it will make your emissions awful so don't go for an e-check with premix. It will also ruin your catalytic converter faster. Racecars don't need those tho. |
If you want to premix and have O'Reilly Auto Parts in your area, you can buy this JASO FC/FD 2 cycle oil from them at a pretty reasonable price. It is what I use on track days.

Any time I drive it I peg the tach at least once. It's good fun.
