Anyone looking to buy an RX8 (Headlight restoration)
 

Ok so if you have recently bought or are looking into buying an RX8. I have seen it on a lot of 8s and it bothers the crap out of me. Cloudy headlights and dull grey trim. Get a 3m headlight restoration kit (you can get it from wal mart) and also get some Forever Black. To remove the cloudy film from your headlights all you need is a drill and the 3m Headlight restoration kit. If you aren't removing the headlights (i didn't) then also get some painters tape and newspapers ( it can be messy). The forever black needs to go onto the polyurethane bumper pieces around the exhaust or any other parts that have turned grey the trim near the exhaust is what i see the most. They get a dull grey color after awhile from the heat of course. These are not costly at all. If you are an owner of an 8 you should take care of it. When i see cloudy headlights and really dull grey trim, it just looks like you don't care. So please, take care of your 8. =)


I have done both of these when i got my 8, the headlights look like new and the trim looks brand new as well. But please don't buy the as seen on tv products those dont work at all. The 3m kit uses a series of fine grit sandpapers. It is really simple.

If your aren't a DIY'er, I know SAM's Club or walmart offers a headlight restoration service for about $30. They did our Odyssey (huge headlights) with no up charge and it came out great. They masked everything off quite well. They also warrantied it for 5 years although I can't imagine needing it.

But, yea, I'm with Jon. The clouded headlights just kill the look of this car.

I'll tell you what I'll bring my 8 to you and anything that bothers you I'll let you pay to fix it.
