Any suggestions on sourcing 40thAE parts?
Hey there guys, So I just picked up my 8 40th AE on Tuesday for a good price. Now I’m starting to notice a few things I need to do on her. On the drivers side, the side skirt is missing. Also I need to eventually get the drivers seat reupholstered..but since it’s cosmo red leather..that may be an issue? Mechanically speaking the car is sound. Sat for two days and started right up this cold Saturday. So if you have any suggestions on sourcing a body piece or the leather like that please let me know! have a good day |
The side skirt isn't unique to the 40th Anny, it's called "Aero kit" or something like that and there are always a few on Ebay in different colours. The car is Metropolitan Gray, right? That might be a harder colour to find, but if you're willing to get a skirt painted, you should be able to find one.
You'd have to be real lucky to find another 40th Anny interior without a car attached to it, so if you're going for re-upholstering, it might need to be a custom job. Whoever does that work probably knows where to find the right leather. Now if you were in the market for a complete 2006 Shinka interior in alcantara, I might have something for you :o How bad is your current leather? Maybe it can be saved? |
Thanks for the reply. Alcantara, wow that’s really fancy. :lol2: . Well that’s great to hear the skirts are not unique to my car. Well see what a body shop quotes me I suppose. I would like to make her as beautiful as possible. I can’t see a good paint job for the whole car less than $1,500. Well the leather is actually in really good condition besides the left bolster on the drivers seat. There is already a hole forming in it. It’s not too bad yet but I can see in a year or two it can get bad. |
