Air conditioning
 

I'm having a problem with my rx8's air conditioner everytime I turn it on whether I'm in drive or Park my whole car starts to shake it will go away but only for 20 seconds mabey. But if anyone could help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Things like year of car, miles and any mods would help.

There is an engine mount issue, also a tired engine issue. Could be other stuff as well.

I am having the same issue with mine. I assume it is the motor mounts...just have not ordered them yet. However, also having another issue. A/C is barely blowing. It feels more like I have it on LOW, when it is on as high as it will go. The air coming out is ice cold, just barely blowing. Any thoughts?

I've had the same exact issue since I've bought my current car. Kind of sounds similar to a jackhammer rattling my frame. It's bad enough that I usually preferred to just sweat. My compression numbers are around 7.4-7.6 @ 250RPM across the board. Nothing amazing, but not failing by any stretch of the imagination.

I've tried just about everything except replacing the mounts (and A/C compressor) but every time I've taken a look at them they've looked 100%. Summer hit and I just can't take it anymore. So I have a pair of BHR mounts coming in tomorrow. If it doesn't fix the issue, I'm leaning towards the compressor/clutch.

Definitely a clogged cabin air filter. Change it. They're not expensive.

As for the vibrations, it's gotta be motor mounts, but I'm not sure about it.

Thank you very much! I just ordered the cabin air filter, and will get that changed today. It's WAY to hot in Texas to not have a good working A/C! Much appreciated.

Anytime! :) why don't you pull the filter out and have a look? It's not hard. Just pop the glove box out and it's right there.

I'll be leaving the office for lunch in about 10 minutes, and I will be doing just that. Regardless, I'm going to change the filter. I've had her for over a year now, and haven't done that...no telling when the last time it was changed. But over the course of that year, the A/C steadily decreases in it's blowing force.

It might be worth getting your battery and alternator checked. Before I threw a new alternator on the blower seemed to vary quite wildly depending on the engine RPM.

It was the motor mounts. Replaced them with some BHR mounts and the issue immediately went away. Drove about 15 minutes or so and then decided to pull over into a parking lot. Cranked the A/C and sat there for another 30-45 minutes. Solely because it was the first time I could sit in the car and not get a massive headache.

I looked over the old mounts and I never would have thought there was anything wrong with them. The only indication of a problem I saw was on the right drivers side mount was sagging slightly. As well as the top bolt would not come out. It had to be snapped off. Neither of these are things I would have seen without removing them.
