8 issues rough idle help
i have a 2004 rx8 and it recently started giving me issues. It started idling pretty rough just out of the blue. But the weird thing is it seems it only to happen when its a warm start because when the car is cold it seems to start right up and idle fine with good power but when i start again once the engine is warm it starts idling rough and the check engine light flashes and a weakening in power. Now I have researched up and down on the site as well as youtube and i can't seem to find a exact case like mine hence the post. but from what i know and have seen i believe it could be the ignition coils but i'm not a 100% sure so any info would be appreciated.

Flashing CEL is always a misfire. We have a full thread on most of the options: https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tec...t-here-222280/
Ignition Coils, Spark Plugs, and Plug wires should be changed at least every 30,000 miles, often by 20,000 miles, unless you upgrade to an "LS" kit like BHR's. Failure to properly maintain your ignition will cause trouble starting, trouble idling, poor gas mileage, power loss, cat failure, O2 sensor failure, and eventually engine failure. Nothing is so critical to a healthy RX-8 as complete ignition, and nothing cascades into very expensive damage so fast as failing to maintain that ignition.
See the new owner's thread section on ignition here: New and Potential Owners Start Here: Ignition Health
That link will take you straight to the section, so you can skip all the other important information about ownership if you wish.

I would add cleaning the MAF to the process, then reset the ECU (20 brake stomp), then try. Keep your foot off the gas and let it start.
If you smell gas coming out of the tail pipe, you have a flooded car. there are some steps to clear that here as well, easiest is to depress the gas pedal all the way while cranking.
Also, there are pictures here of how the wires route for the plugs and coils. Unless you did them one at a time, it might be good to check and make sure that it is all the way you think it is.
Also, post your location.

gave it a shot but...
alright so i double checked that I put the wire to the correct plug with the diagram you posted (btw thank you) and yeah everything is where its supposed to be now i tried the twenty brake pumps to try and reset the computer but it doesn't seem to do anything all the lights on the dash stay on and check engine, airbag, dsc light all flash a few times does that mean anything? I'm gonna upload a video to youtube so y'all can see what i mean and hear it as well.

Ok i tried it again this morning and yes you are right the oil gauge moved and then went back down and i tried to get it to turn over but again nothing but i did notice something when i have the key in the on position i can hear like a buzzing or slight ring coming from the engine bay and its coming from where the air filter hooks up to. thought i'd add a symptom

There are a bunch of things that happen when you turn on the key, and some of them do not happen every time. The power steering will test itself, so will ABS...
So, new coils, new plugs, new wires, reset and will not start. Possibly flooded, but not sure, was flooded at one time. Right?
Try this, pull the lower plug on each chamber, crank it with the fuel pump fuse pulled to eject fuel, then squirt in some engine oil, a few cc on each side. This will seal back up the apex seals that have the oil washed off. Then crank it a few more times to spread the oil around, then re-install the plugs and give it a try. Make sure the battery is charged.
It is what I would do. Maybe there is a Fort Worth member out there that can give you a hand.
