2009 rx8 fishbowl taillight fix?

So i bought a new taillight, and after it rained here in sunny florida my light is a fishbowl. searched this site and google, seems theres only replacement gaskets for the series 1 rx8s. im thinking of just drilling a hole in the light, does anyone know the best spot to do so? or any other methods to fix this problem?

Don't drill a hole, unless you want the chrome to flake, come off and look like crap.

The way to fix it is somewhat similar to an early fix applied to S1s before replacement gasket was available: you grab a tube of silicone gasket maker and generously spread it on the gasket, then you put the taillights back in.

If you are not confident, pay a body shop to do it. I had a body shop take care of it along with some other body work I needed. Never had any leak ever since. Shops usually have a warranty, so if it leaks again, you can ask them to fix it for free.

Buy a gasket, quick and easy.
Fix it right the first time.

Well the dude said he has an S2.

My car did the same thing, even with a new gasket. You'd be surprised how many S2s have a leaky driver side taillight.

And like mentioned, no improved gaskets for us. S1 and S2 also use different gaskets(they are shaped quite differently) so we are out of luck.

The only real fix for an S2 is what I mentioned with the gasket maker.

I thought they had both.

There is no S2 gasket improvement that I know of. The only S2 taillight gasket I am able to buy is from the dealer. Costs CAN$20 + tax. It appears that it hasn't been changed ever since 2009.

The market's too small. Only 17k S2s are produced. Nobody is gonna bother.

Drilling a hole is a bad idea. There is probably water getting in your trunk as well as the light and a hole isn't going to fix that. When I fixed mine I bought foam insulation tape (you can get it at homedepot/lowes/walmart) and RTV. Clean the tail light and the body and apply RTV, foam, RTV. No more leak.
