2009 Mazda rx8 .. New owner !!! Clueless on my trim!!

Hello all !! Glad to be here to learn!! I am a new Mazda 2009 mazda rx 8 owner!! And it would seem as though I have multiplied in questions group out the days and I have been reading and following people's threads! First and foremost I would like to solve my initial questions on what's vehicle trim is.. I was told sport but I'm still not convinced!! My vehicle comes with a moonroof or sunroof in not sure the difference lol!! Also there is no leather no power seats and as far as I know I can provide a bin number but I still haven't found any results lookin that up on regards to my vehicle trim!! Please all help would be great!! Not asking everyone just the doubt outside my mind will be great!! Thank you all!! Also glad to have posted correction I have a sliding moonroof

Moonroof yes and leather no for a 2009 means you have a Touring.

This is assuming that you are in the US. If you are anywhere else in the world, the trim may be 'the same', but have a different name. Some parts of the world got radically different trim definitions though.

If you add your location to your profile, it would help us better answer questions like this that you might have :)

Welcome.

Well!!!

To specifi they are telling me its a SPA trim??? Meaning sport A

I have no idea .. I am located in the United states Florida south Florida ... Great for the car.. I don't have a 6 CD player I have single disk no leather no power seats but I do have the moonroof and this is a 2009 model

RIWWP 01-19-2015 04:11 PM

Ok, yes, you have a 2009 Touring

Comes with cloth seats, moonroof, fog lights and a few other small items.

It would be Grand Touring if it had the leather and heated seats
It would be Sport if it was missing the moon roof and fog lights.
If it was R3, you would be missing the moon roof and have Recaro seats, and have a significantly different front bumper, side skirts, and wheels.

It IS possible to swap seats and fog lights, but it isn't incredibly common. You can't swap moonroofs easily, I think less than 5 have ever.

The CD single vs 6 is an option that was available for all trims, it was not automatic on any trim.

Whomever is telling to "Sport A" or "SPA" doesn't know what they are talking about.

There aren't any fog lights just one set lights in the front well I guess to say because I have no idea but to describe it its one set light indent of the car there does not seem to be a second bulb equipped separately .. So it's on piece lighting system with 3 bulbs one for turn signal one head light and one possible fog light!! But I figured fog lights were in a separate location under the oroginal lighting

If you don't have those fog lights, check to see if they were ever mounted. They could have been removed.

It is possible that I'm wrong and the Touring didn't have them for the series2 (2009-2011) but I'm 99% sure they did.

It's also possible that someone deleted the fog lights and swapped in a cloth interior to their GT, but very unlikely. The fact that you have a moonroof means it is NOT a Sport, not even with a prior owner swapping stuff around.

My vehicle looks just like the black one with ought the second set of lights

RIWWP 01-19-2015 04:23 PM

Yeah, check to see if they were ever mounted behind the filler blanks then. They were likely removed.

Ug, that looks aweful :(

No offense to you, but whomever painted the front bumper mangled it. I'm guessing they damaged the original bumper, got another one that didn't have the fog lights and then spray painted over everything improperly.

You have a Touring.

Renz0 01-19-2015 04:35 PM

What if that isn't the case ? It had one previouse owner and no one service check .. I sencirly apologize for its awful looks

RIWWP 01-19-2015 04:37 PM

Well, they could have taken a spray paint can to the front of a perfectly good bumper.... but I hope not.

This is what your bumper would have looked like stock:

Here's another view

RIWWP 01-19-2015 04:44 PM

Well, if the bumper still has a gloss clear coat on it, then maybe they just removed the black trim pieces and painted those. It wouldn't explain why they removed the fog lights though.

Renz0 01-19-2015 04:45 PM

So it would seem I have touring then.. But no fog lights , and a painted bumper !! Bummer !! I guess I need to save up for a paint job! Anyone have ideas on what color looks great for sunny south Florida ? I like white but ...... They look good I black too

RIWWP 01-19-2015 04:48 PM

Confirm if you have paint damage on the bumper itself, no need to repaint if it he only painted the trim, which is removable and you could remove and re-spray those black without a problem.

If you do want to repaint the car, what color you go with is personal preference, although it would be cheaper to repaint the bumper to match the rest of the car than it would be to repaint the whole car.

Renz0 01-19-2015 04:52 PM

I'll just repaint the car!! Any ideas how much it would be ?

G_ man 01-19-2015 04:53 PM

I bought a replacement grill for my 2010 new from dealer for $60.00 Canadian, so i'm sure would be cheaper there.

Renz0 01-19-2015 05:04 PM

I think I'll paint it and install fog light ... Or buy the proper bumper !! And then paint it .. All in all what's the cost ?

RIWWP 01-19-2015 05:07 PM

No idea on cost. Depends on where you get the parts from and what kind of quality you pay for.

Renz0 01-19-2015 05:08 PM

Well thank you everyone I'll look into it !! Thank you all for your time! Maybe a link could point me in a direction to buy the part item.. Thank you again!
