Welcome !

I have owned RX7s (three generations) and an RX8, and there are many differences you need to know. . You need to read this thread completely, if you haven't already, and check your car's maintenance records. .

https://www.rx8club.com/new-member-f...t-here-202454/

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
At 100k, anything original in the cooling system is really suspect and failure prone. It represents the biggest threat to your engine.

Nice looking GT! Fully loaded with nav! Nice find on that car! So you know any history on the car or do you have any service records for the car?

Very good looking 8. Are your rear emblems dipped?

I did a car fax that's about it. Some of the major recalls have been done. I m gonna start out with fresh plugs I m debating the bhr ignition just not sure is it worth $539. I know many have said it is but dam. Also debating the tuboxs exhaust. I ve had racingbeat only on my 79 rx7 and 90 vert and they have been perfect. Not sure how good the Turboxs exhaust is. Def cheaper. Wish I knew how old the radiator is. Will have to check. Need to get an extra key only have one will have to stop by the dealer I guess.

I had the BHR ignition on my 2004 and its one of the best investments and MOD I ever gave my 8. I had the TURBOXS catback on mine for a long time as well and it never gave me any problems. I will be going with the TURBOXS catback on my 2011 R3 hopefully soon. as for Radiators there are a few good ones on the market with different price points iuf you want one think about where you want to go with the car and judge it that way. There are a few good threads and RND on the forum.

That's what I was considering. If I m keeping it mostly stock do I need a Koyo. I usually just to suspension and exhaust. Not seeing good things about upgrading intake. I guess the BHR ignition should be standard. I see a lot of coils going for $10 each too that's why I was questioning the BHR $540. Especially if you are staying stock. But I guess the BHR is the way to go.

Were you surprised by the pep of an RX8 coming from an RX7? I was when I drove a friend's, now I'm looking to purchase one, albeit I'll end up swapping the engine.
