Description

Up for sale is my Velocity Red Mica 2005 Mazda RX-8 with the 6 speed manual transmission. It currently has 52,8xx miles on it. It has been my trusted daily driver and the only reason for selling is because we need something more spacious and better equipped to handle upstate snow (looking at SUVs). I also need to get something the wife can drive without worrying. Two cars is out of the question right now. I've explored a few scenarios where I can keep the car but they are just not feasible now. You better be sure when I complete my degree I'll be back in an RX8!

The car is equipped with the Touring package which includes everything from the Grand Touring package minus the heated and powered leather seats. The inside is black/gray suede cloth. This is my second RX8, my first had leather seats and I made sure my second RX8 had cloth interior due to comfort and not having to worry about the leather cracking as it aged. The touring package this car has includes but is not limited to xenon headlamps, sport suspension, bigger disc brakes, a moonroof, fog lights, stability and traction control, and the Bose premium sound package. The car is also equipped with the factory rear spoiler. I have the clean title in hand ready for immediate transfer to a new owner. The previous owner had all maintenance done at a dealership so all maintenance done by him shows up on the Carfax and I have his reciepts. Me being a DIY-er, I opted to do all the routine maintenance myself. The car is eligible for the extended rotary engine warranty until April 2014 or 100,000 miles. The car was a 2005 model but registered in April 2006 so that is the warranty start date. I have two sets of switchblade style keys and a third valet key.

The Good:
  • OEM Appearance Package - Front, sides and rear. ($700 value)
  • The car has a 3M Clearbra on the front fascia and the side view mirrors. This cost $700 installed 2 years ago.
  • Brand new Optima Yellow Top battery with Autozone 3 year warranty.
  • Fresh oil change 6/17/2012.
  • All windows, except the windshield, are tinted with 20% film.
  • Brand new K&N high flow air filter. This is not a complete intake only the replacement filter for the OEM airbox.
  • All electrical components of the car are operating perfectly, no failed A/C knob, radio, etc.
  • Apart from an intermittent transmission grind that was remedied by changing the transmission fluid, (roughly 3,000 miles ago) the car is completely mechanically sound with no known issues.
  • The motor is strong and responsive, I can demonstrate this on a test drive. With that said, even though the car is a 2005 model, it wasn’t sold/registered until late 2006 therefore the rotary engine warranty still has nearly 2 years on it!
  • GROM Audio / Kensington Auxiliary input is installed for playing an iPod/iPhone through the 300 watt Bose sound system.

The Bad:
  • 2 minor door dings on the driver and passenger sides.
  • The front bumper has a small (1.5”) crack on the passenger side.
  • The rear bumper has 2 dings and scrape from some idiot in an SUV parking "on" my bumper.
  • Some interior scuffs, tried to get them in the pictures.
  • Some minor paint chips that I’ve documented in the pictures and that I can point out in person.
  • The headlight casings have some manufacturer defects that “damaged” the lens on the inside, nothing I could do about that. Mazda refused to cover it while I was in warranty.
  • 1 Wheel has some slight bubbling on the inside of the spoke, 1 wheel has some curb rash.
---- I've tried to show all these in the pictures below, of course an in-person viewing would be better. ----

Price and Viewing

N.A.D.A Guides values the car at $12,900 while KBB values the car at $13,100.

I am asking for $11,750. I may *slightly* negotiate that price, but don't expect much.

I am in Astoria, NYC. Feel free to PM me to ask any additional questions, if you want the VIN or if you'd like to arrange for a viewing of the car. You can also text me at 347-223-6928 .
