We are new...so yeah introductions

Hello my name is Paul, my girlfriend and I Erinn (kinkash) have recently bought an rx-8, hopefully we will not regret this. We both live in Virginia in Hampton roads and are very excited about getting into the rotary scene. We look forward to attending meet and greets as well as becoming a part of this community.

Gorgeous color. Welcome to the addiction! Make sure you read all the stickies in each sub-forum

Thanks I will post some of our other cars at some point. And so far my only worry is what oil to use. I see now that people have been arguing about that for years now.

You remain on this site too long and it would make you paranoid, you would sell your car "before it breaks". The car runs perfectly fine as long as you check the oil regularly but tread everything and you will be worrying about "pre-mix", of buying more expensive oil than you need, about how you need to redline everyday and a whole lot of needless crap. The car is just fine if you follow the manual (nowhere does it ask to redline everyday or put in expensive oil or pre-mix etc.) but if you keep reading this forum, you will become a worrier.

I use Castrol GTX which I think is fairly common around here and not that expensive.

I think it's been proven over the past 8 or 9 years that redlining the car regularly is healthy for the engine. A lot of service techs at Mazda tell you to do it too, but hey, I'm no expert.

Yeah I have used Castro gtx on other cars and really I just will probably end up using 5w30 and change evey 3k miles.
