Arrow VT Spring Run – June 3-5

Chris Huot has invited us to join them on their annual VT Spring Run again. The run has typically been just for Miatas but this year they are expanding the scope to include more sports/sporty cars like the RX-8, S2000, Mini Coopers... If this sounds like fun send Chris an e-mail to ask for more info or to say that you want to go on the run.

Here it is - time for the Spring Run!

Here's a quick run down of what we have so far:
This year the Run is scheduled for June 3-4-5th.

Molly and I have reserved the usual block of rooms at the Commodore's Inn in
Stowe, VT - http://www.commodoresinn.com

The number to call is 1-800-44-STOWE.
Reference NH (New Hampshire) Miata Group or Molly Huot when booking your room.

Lunch will again be at the Fire and Ice Restaurant in Middlebury, VT
on Saturday
- http://www.fireandicerestaurant.com/

The route is pretty much going to stay the same as last year, but I
have been in
contact with a friend of mine from VT and we are working on "jazzing" up the
route!

I can't wait to unbury my poor Miata and hit some twistes!

Any Questions feel free to Email me at: LagunyMyata@yahoo.com

Chris Huot

------------------AND------------------

Sunday is a mellow day.
Typically, Molly and I don't rush leaving the hotel - we pack up our
stuff, have
breakfast at the hotel restaurant (they put on a really good breakfast buffet
included in your room price), and are ready to go around checkout time.

At that point, we see who's still around and interested in travelling Southward
as a group. Usually, I just grab my trusty atlas and see what looks
interesting,
and we head on out.

I also realized that I forgot to post up the rate information for the hotel, so
here it is:

The Commdore's Inn
Stowe, VT
1-800-44-STOWE
http://www.commodoresinn.com/

The rate is $180 per room for both Friday and Saturday nights. This price also
includes a full breakfast buffet for two on both Saturday and Sunday morning,
all taxes, etc.

The single night rate is $98 a night for those who wish to stay either
Friday or
Saturday night only. This also includes the buffet for two.

The rooms all have 2 queen beds, so 4 people are allowed in each room if anyone
wants to bunk up to save money - please note that the rates include 2 buffets
per morning, and extra people will be charged $18 per person for breakfast.

When calling to reserve your room, reference "New Hampshire Miata,"
contact name
Molly and Chris Huot for the discounted rate.

The lunch stop for the day of the run will be Fire&Ice again - cost will be
about $12 per person, tax and tip included.

Chris
P.S. The latest info will be posted on Miata.net.

Great run, great bunch of people.

Having been on last years spring run, as well as the Fall run in NH, I'm definatly in for another fun spring run up in VT.

I know of a couple of 8's that are going to be there, it would be really neat if we had half a dozen to a dozen 8's joining the run.

If you have any question, feel free to send me a PM.

I highly recommend staying both nights, the first night is usually pretty calm with everyone hanging out and getting some sleep. The Second night after the run should be a lot of fun.

I graduated from Norwich University and am still bitter about VT weather, I avoid that state as much as possible.

I will second Tigger and suggest heading to this run if you can make it. If Unkie Bill lets me not work, I will be there. I do a lot of skiing up that way and there are a loooot of nice backroads and twisties in that part of Vermont. AAAAnd if anyone is feeling brave, Burlington is only about a 40 min drive.

JDunsh, surely you can shed your disdain for VT for one weekend?

I'm interested. I've missed like two runs already since I got my car. I'm up for sharing a room. Who needs a roommate?

Downshift, good to see another 8 is going to make the run! That brings the count up to 7 8's I know are going... one more and well have 8 8's

I'm afraid I don't need a roommate, have one already... unless something changes. But I'm sure someone will be looking for one. You might try RPIRX-8, I know he is going and I think last year he was looking for someone to room with.

I think atleast 3 or 4 of us are coming from the Greater Boston area, I'm personaly just off exit 1 in Nashua. If people are intrested, I'd love company on the way up to VT Friday night. We could all probably meet in Nashua around 5:30???, or Manchester around 6???, head north to West Lebanon (on route), pickup SpeedRacer and Chris, grab dinner and continue on to Stow?

If anyone is intrested, I'm game.

And if anyone needs more info or has questions, feel free to send me a PM.

A convoy up there sounds great. If you are working that day, we can meet up in the parking lot before heading to Nashua too.

Downshift, lets grab a room.

Caravan sounds good. I live at the junction of I-95 and the Mass Pike so I can meet anywhere on the I-95 or I-93 corridor.

Tentative attendance list

OK, so I realized today that there is only one month till the run, so I decided I had better start trying to figure out who is going!

Below is a list of people I've talked to and confirmed are going so far. If you think you can make it and would like to come out, please let me know and I will add you to the list!

Definates: (looks like this our list, pretty good rotory showing I'd say)

Tigger
RPIRX-8
downshift
April
G-Force
Pincus
rxgrl
A new ti-gray (accompanying G-Force, welcome!)

OK, so I went out yesterday with Chris, our host for this run, and we did a pre-run to look at some new route options, and to change things up a bit from last year.

All I have to say is it looks real nice, and I think 8+ hours with the top down (we took the miata), was possibly a bit to much for my fair winter skin... but here is hoping I have a nice tan in a day or two and that we have similar weather in two weeks!

Looking quickly over the list of guests registered with the hotel, I'm not sure I saw any one from the list posted here? (edit: ok I have confirmed a number of you now... where are the rest?) Just wanted to make sure everyone has booked hotel rooms, and that you booked under "'New Hampshire Miata,' contact name Molly and Chris Huot". Booking under the 'New Hampshire Miata' name will get you a discount on the room, as well as insure you are booked into the same wing as everyone else on the run.

If your not coming up Friday night, then I hope you are atleast planning on staying Saturday night, as we all get together hang out and socialize... not to mention you wouldn't want to miss Ben & Jerry's the next day

OK, Friday night commute!

I think a number of us are planning on caravaning up on Friday.

I have put together a tenative schedual... so here goes... If you are on route and would like to join us, please let

me know!

First Stop, Nashua, NH exit 1 @ 5:45
Second Stop, NH Liquor store on 93 N @ 6:20
Last Stop, Lebanon, NH exit 20 @ 7:30
After Dinner head to our final destination!

This schedual will be a bit tight with rush hour traffic, so I will be at the Nashua stop at 5:30, and we will leave

as soon as everyone expected has showed. From the Liquor store, traffic should be smooth sailing and if were on

schedual, we will arrive as expected.

At the Nashua Stop, I'm currently expecting:
Tigger
RPIRX-8
downshift
rxgrl

NH Liquor store:
No one at present, we will skip if no one tells me they plan to be there.

Lebanon, and also were we will grab a bite to eat:
G-Force
Pincus
Speed Racer
My Sister!
And new ti-gray (accompanying G-Force, welcome!)

Please remember to bring a Radio with you if you have one... two if you have a spare for anyone that might not have

one. I plan on being on channel 8 (go figure) with sub security channel 0 (since not everyone has a security

channel).

Can't believe this is only two weeks away!

Once I have a head count, I will see if I can book reservations for dinner with directions to get there. As for the

NH, liquor store, it is just north of Manchester after the tolls on 93 North, you can't miss it. Directions to

Nashua From the South (495 and rt 3 North in Mass):

1) Head north on rt 3/Everett Turnpike

When you get to exit 1 (it comes up real fast on
your right just after exit 36), take exit 1.

2) There will be a lane that joins the off ramp from the
right, stay to the right (move to the merging lane).

3) At the bottom of the off ramp you want to turn left
and go under the highway. (I believe... you will see a
sign for the NH Liquor store and DW highway... do NOT
go that way).

4) Go .7, on your left you will see a base
ball field and a parking lot, see you there!

OK, so I believe the goal for dinner is the "7 barrel Brewery". The menu is reasonably priced and has a selection of general food including some fish and a select few vegie meals as well for anyone not intrested in traditional pub food

For those who are meeting us in West Lebanon, I believe you all know where to go, but if anyone needs better directions, please let me know.

Quick directions are as follows:

1) Take 89N in NH
2) Take exit 20
3) At the bottom of the off ramp go left under the interstate.
4) as you come out from the interstate there is a light, go through the light and get into the left lane.
5) about 50 feet after the light at the interstate a Left turn lane forms aproaching a second trafic light. (If you look Left you can see the "Colonial plaza on your left), get in the Left turn lane and at the light make a left.
6) there is a short 30 foot cement island in the middle of the road, at the end of the island turn Left into the back side of the mall parking lot. (there will be a bunch of construcion on your left.
7) once you are in the parking lot just continue driving straight to the otherside of the lot and you will see the restraunt in front of you!

Can't wait!

Currently I have reservations for 7:30 for 12 of us... I'm guessing we will probably be about 10, but better safe then sorry. I will be calling Speed Racer and the restraunt from Manchester to give an update asto weather we are running on time or a bit behind schedual due to rush hour and weekend traffic!

Poo, found you guys too late.

Hey all. Sorry to bust in on a thread like this, where its pretty obvious you're already pretty close-knit. Please excuse. Its just nice to find a group of RX-8 enthusiasts, now that I've become one myself.

First off, as kind of a "Hello my name is", I'm Justin, 24, and I'm...sorry, bit of irony here, the RX-8 commercial just came on. :p I'm a medical office assistant out in MD. Now, with that out of the way....

I just picked up a 2005 in Titanium Gray with the Touring package and I am just in love. I've had it for a week and I've already put 1k miles on it. I-95 is a lot of fun with a sunroof, Bose system and 6 gears. Like the title says, I'm sorry I jumped in late, and I hope to stick around and get to know you guys better. Have fun this weekend, maybe I'll catch the next one.

@~)~~

P.S. Her name is Vanessa.

Welcome imagitek0!

If your up North for some reason, there is no reason you still can't join us! Though MD might be a bit far to come from with such short notice. (but if you want details, IM me! )

There are a lot of groups out there that do runs all over the area, and I can't imagine any that wouldn't enjoy meeting you and having you along on there next run!

As for the gang in this thread, a bunch of us have done stuff together before, but we always seem to manage to find a couple of new people to come out and "play" for the day everytime we get together. It's always great having new 8's along!

As for this run, the "VT Spring run", this is actually a nice run that has been going on for about 8 years, mostly Miata's, but the 8's have been making a fair showing the last couple of years, and there are usually a couple of other neat sporty cars along as well. Definatly look for info on this run again next year, about the same time.

If your up this way in the fall, there is a sister run in NH, that is an excellent run to attend as well. The "NH Fall Run" typicly takes place the weekend after Labor day, if memory serves me.

Enjoy your new TitGray 8, there a lot of fun to drive

The Run was fantastic! It was great hanging out with a bunch of Miata's and 8's! And the Mini that showed up was great as well! I'll try and get some pis up soon.

I think in all there were about 30 cars.

Well, I've discovered that all the hype about this Spring Run is true. It was a blast! The people are friendly and it's a pleasure to drive with other fellow RX-8 drivers. The run was organized very well and the 8 years of experience really shows.

We had a good run group of 4 RX-8s and a Mini Cooper-S where everybody drove at a good pace but with responsibility and safety in mind. Tigger did a great job with setting a good pace and keeping us out of trouble. So, thank you! It's also nice to meet some new members (G-force, rxgrl) and I hope to you guys again in future runs. This will definitely be something to look forward to every year.

I'll be posting some pictures on this thread soon. The higher resolution pictures will be on my web server but I need to clear out some space. I'll pm you guys with the link when I'm done.

Oh yeah, I suggest you check your oil levels too when you have a chance. I topped it off before the trip and now I'm down more than a quart. Those extended 5-9k rpm stints sure consume the oil quickly!

Alright, now to go back to the daily grind...
