The dent and scratch really aren't that bad but where its located The bumper and fender need to be blended

My whole family is in autobody so i know the estimate was accurate since it was my uncle that did it

No offense or anything but that's really not my style if I'm gonna go with a CF its gonna look stock. I'm really not flashy with my car I try to keep it low key and sleak

What insurance company do you have? I want to switch if they are paying for your deductible and the damage. Not trying to be rude but if you have a deductible that is the portion that you pay towards any claim you file. I can see why your insurance company did not want to pay cause the shop who gave you the estimate is ripping them off....$1500 to repair or replace a stock hood. A new OEM hood is $518.37, paint should be about $250ish and labor to install the hood should be around $65ish....total cost should be around $950. Just incase you are wondering where I got the numbers from....I deal with ins claims and shops all day long.

I wasn't trying to sugges you get one, I knew few people actually like CF. (I happen to hate it) I just used it to point out the fact that 1,500 for an OEM hood is OUTRAGEOUS.

NgoRX8 11-20-2007 09:29 PM

a stock hood itself costs about 400-600. $1000 for bodywork is insane!

You are correct.....A new OEM hood is $518.37.

sounds like the shop is trying to corn hole you. talk to your adjuster and ask to go somewhere else.

chrism 11-21-2007 06:33 AM

I think what he is saying is the amount they were willing to pay was barely as much as the deductible he was going to pay. :uhh:

Thats exactly right. Mt deductable with 500 and the adjuster told me the total would be 585. The reason its so expensive is because both fenders and bumper need to be blended ad to that VR is a three stage pearl if not a candy apple. I went to a well known shop that my uncle happens to be the General Manager of. He told me if I wait for about 3 months I ca fix it at the shop for free.I just know that working with family things never seem to get done and I'm really not trying to drive my car around covered in Primer and puddy. This is the first car I have purchased on my own (since I am just turning 23) and its the most important thing to me right now. (sorry for babbling and ranting a bit)
