Alright well as you all should know I got a new CAT put on my car on Wed and its running great.. hell I've been saying I feel like I have 50 more horse power. And my butt dyno is smiling 'cause of it hehe.. BUT.... yes there is always a BUT with me (rather there not be trust me
)
So today I go out to my car and decided to check my oil level since realizing that when they had my car they took my oil cap off (one thing I like about my R-magic oil cap I can now tell if its been taken off). I'm taking the engine cover off and note to myself "Jesh my battery cover is kinda loose.." I go about checking my oil and its fine for the most part I put the stick back in and go to put my engine cover back on. Its not fitting in correctly. I grumble to myself and take the cover out then put it back in and its still not fitting right. I look down at the bottom and on the battery side its not going down properly. I push the battery cover up torwards the firewall and the engine cover goes down snuggly. I scratch my head for a moment since I've never ever had this problem before I then decide to lift the battery cover up. The cover comes up easily to easily. I remember when I first got the car this battery cover did not want to come off at all. I'm able to move the cover up and down side to side. I'm dumbfounded thinking "whats wrong here?". I kneel down and realize the problem and snag my camera. This is what I found.
What the engine cover, battery cover, and air intake look like when everything is in place.

What I found out to be the problem.

And what is supposed to be there a clip to hold the cover in place.

So should I take it back to the dealer and tell 'em I want the battery bay replaced since its clear they broke it when they had my car or say screw it? I wouldnt mind overall but I'm somewhat **** about lines and having things lined up properly. Ugh I swear I think this dealership is my arch nemisis or sumthing..

Jeez, Kev, if it weren't for bad luck, huh? I would bring it to their attention and take all the advice you've seen here. Well, maybe not the "battery in the trunk" idea or the turbo kit, unless you've managed to get someone to donate to your upgrade fund!!
Seriously, talk to a manager, keep the pictures, and contact Mazda corporate. I'm finding that the lack of care people are getting on the local level is not acceptable on the corporate level. The dealerships need to know that we have no problem going over their heads and naming names, if we have to. Good luck!

Oi either the Manager is very nice, seriously scared of me, or realize's he works with morons, 'cause I'm getting a new battery bay and cover. Told him "I took my car in here Wed to be worked on and this weekend I go to check my oil and find out my battery bay is broken." He has this perplexed look on his face for a moment and ask's to see my car. I bring him to my car and he ask's what it was brought in for, I tell him I ended up needing a new CAT thats when he asked if this happened when the recall was done I proceed to tell him I already had it done. He takes a look at the battery section and to me has this look of "Friggin' morons" as he slightly shakes his head. He looks to me and just says "Sorry about that we'll order you a new one if we dont have any in stock."
Back inside he gets on the phone and orders the parts since none are in stock (didnt expect them to anyways as its such a random part to have yanno.). He again apologize's saying it should of never happened or left for that matter, then said either by Wed or Tuesday it should be in. Thanksgiven is throwing alot of deliveries off he said and I told him I know since I deal with deliveries myself.
Drew wasnt there and I ended up talking to the manager right away. Lee was there but those who have been there know about his um "service".
After I get the battery bay replaced I'm gonna ask to talk to him privately and just vent out a little bit. I figure get all my **** done no hassle {for the most part} then bitch 'em out. I work in retail so I know kindess goes along way instead of being a ******* (though they deserve it!). Just a shame since they are sooo close
I'll be pointing out the recall fiasco, the recall itself (car not washed, or filled with gas), recent CEL b.s. (oh forgot to mention they went through 1/4 tank of gas while they had it), and finaly the battery bay mishap.
