Possible move to NNJ
hey all - long time no post. i am considering making a move to NNJ since my new job is in NYC and the commute from CT is killing me. i know very little about NJ but i remember a big NNJ contingent here i was hoping to get some suggestions on towns. right now, ridgewood is at the top of our list but also considering chattham and looking for others.
schools and commute time are most important. i really liked ridgewood because of the charm of the downtown area since my wife and i are fairly young (32) and have two kids. chattham didn't have the same feel but you can get more bang for your buck. any suggestions from some fellow 8ers would be greatly appreciated. i'm not on the boards a ton but will be jumping on when i can to follow this thread. |
Check out the tuesday night starbucks thread. I'll be going there. Probably not with my FD I dunno.

Ridgewood is nice, are you purchasing a home or renting? Parking there is pretty bad unless you own a driveway. also the taxes are quite high but the schools are great.
You can also think about just over the new york border, pearl river is a great town with some of the best schools, and its train line is the same one that runs through ridgewood. Also there is Nyack right on the water, but the commute to nyc will be a little more complicated. Big question, train or drive into the city for work? |

thanks guys....i'll have to check out the thread. i have been to jersey city for a conference and liberty national and both were really nice but don't really want to have to worry about pockets that still haven't been cleaned up since i have two little kids. i appreciate the suggestions and will keep checking each out.
