Meet Update:

now that we have an exact date.....9/24/06
we need to make a decision on what type of meet....

1. at the speed shop with dyno/bbq: we will have to pay a rental fee for the day but that would cover use of the dyno and other parts of the facility...so consequently there would be a charged passed on to each attendee

or

2. at a mall or reasonable facsimile (which is free), hang out, have the contest, then go out to dinner....

please post input!!
thanks

We'donly be able to stay for two hours, so I don't think my input would count!

Dyno meets make me tingle on the inside, but I'm not sure how interesting it would be to dyno a couple of modified cars and a lot of near stock ones.

i would like to do the dyno thing, how much are we looking at shinks? i've added some power adders so im interested in seeing how they stack up. also, do they have an all wheel dyno, as a couple of buddies of mine have subbies and might want to attend, as long as thats allright

just to clarify:

if we do the dyno/bbq meet it may cost each individual $50-$100 depending on how many attend the meet

does anyone have an issue with that.....we need to come up with probably $1000 to rent the place for the day...

I dont have an exact price yet...but thats close...

PS...I know for a fact that its only 2 wheel....but i heard from some one that in some cars like the volvo you can disengage the AWD

My local shop in St. College charges $75 for three pulls. They also give you a A/F printout for each run. Costs close to that figure would seem reasonable to me.

Skinka, if we do rent the location for the day is there enough parking for members that wish to attend the meet but not do a dyno run? If not, is there another location close by that we could use as a meet up spot?

There might be a opportunity for a group tour if parking at the shop isn't an option. Something about the idea of 10 - 20 8s on the road at the same time appeals to me. Regardless we missed out on a group drive last time and this may be something we wish to explore.

Skinka, thanks for all the leg work that you have into this already. Myself and several others really enjoyed the last meet. I'm sure this will be of the same caliber. Please contact me offline if there's anything I can do to assist.

Goat, I hope that you can meet up with SJ and I somewhere near lancaster this time.

Been trying to keep up with the thread. I live near Harrisburg PA and would love to join in on 9/24 but I'll be getting ready to fly out to Las Vegas to instruct at a Viper Owners Club Invitational. Please keep me in mind for future stuff (love to meet up with some other car addicts/RX-8 owners in the "area"). Even if it is just for a drive/beer/dinner.

Hey MotherG
there should be plenty of room for all of us to hang out...even those who do not want to dyno...they have car shows there all the time...
I also like the idea that we will have the whole place to grill and such...I may even ask them to sponsor the meet with a give-away....
Ive spent a lot of money there...my boys too...
he alluded to the fact that he would give me a discount...
i have to talk with him on monday...i will get more info!!

i'll wink at him a few times....

Chris, I agree with you. However, seeing as how no two RX-8s are built the same apparantly, I'm intersted to see how the cars dyno compared to one another.

Also I want to see how much more power my 8 has over my Probe, and where. I'm a geek like that.

Don't be silly, Supergoat. Of course I would want to dyno. I'm actually looking around north Jersey for a shop that I can go to regularly as I change things. Most of my initial mods will be cosmetic/minor for now, but I can this car impinging on my retirement plans in the not to distant future. I'd also like to see how my car runs compared to everyone else. I set a personal record on the way back from HH of 22.6 mpg (and this is with the AC on).

Hi ALL:

meet update - spoke to the shop owner today and was pleasantly surprised...we can rent the shop with dyno, et al from 10AM-4PM for $600...

I am really excited about this...this is a really great price....we can dyno lots of cars from 10-4 which means a really decent price for each individual....
most places charge $100 per dyno......i would think $50 would cover it

everyones thoughts?
