Question Octaine

I currently run amaco super or plus gold whatever the hell it's called. I am curious sence this engine runs at 10/1 compression would it run better if i where to say put in Octaine booster to bring the octain of the gas from 93 to up over 100? If its like the old muscle car engines(high compression) it should make the engine preform better and get a bit better gas milage. If anyone knows let me know

I would think the cost of putting in the booster offset any saving from better mpg.

my tanks of premium versus 87 octane reveal zero 'savings' (or less) from running higher octane (92,93). I'd thought the same thing, but a bottle of that stuff, even if it helped, runs about $48 a gallon if you figure it that way. IF we get more power via the ECU when running higher octane, then I'll run it when I need the power (say racing or at least doing some more 1/4 runs). But someone will have to prove to me that their car can run at least 5% more power with just the octane difference. I haven't seen that proof anywhere to date.

Octane boost in a bottle isn't worth diddly squat. At most you will raise your tank by something on the order of 3/10's of an octane point. 94 octane will become 94.3 octane! Feel the POWER!

Better bet is to just get 100 Octane fuel from your local Sunoco dealer. Check HERE for your nearest location.

Not that it's really gonna help anything except make your wallet lighter and your exhaust smell better at this point
