Drive it harder Colleen bring it up to redline and add some premix in the gas tank.

not again op

drive it hard, take care of it ,always changing oil.even dave the wizard of mazda`s is stumped.they even brought in regional rep to try and figure out the problem.no answer just new engine.but when she run`s right o boy! i just wish running right was more than running wrong.some how i think it`s the computer.it`s the only thing that has not been changed.had to have whole interior stripped for airbag switch, had the leaking light problem, air condition problem, intake problem, crappy cd problem.i think i have gremlins.

Jezz, from the sound of it, you have more than gremlins. I feel your pain. I would get rid of it and get an other 8.

did you buy it brand new?

Rotr8 07-02-2008 10:23 AM

wow sounds like you ve just had really bad luck, or fate or dstiny or any other of those unexplainable things... sucks big time..

Gambit 07-02-2008 12:11 PM

you should see if it's covered by some kind of lemon law...you might get a new car out of it

teknics 07-02-2008 06:35 PM

lemon law doesn't apply mainly because the problem is being fixed each time. lemon law is when the problem just doesnt get fixed after I believe 3 visits, then it starts leaning towards lemon law.

A great way to help your new engine is to premix. Trust me your engine will love you, the OMP system is a crutch and a wobbly one at that.

can u recap how each engine broke? not to say it's your fault or anything, but it just seems very unusual to have to go thru 4 engines.

Rotr8 07-02-2008 07:36 PM

^^^ hey how come I got flamed for saying te same thing....

AJ's Shinka 07-02-2008 10:00 PM

Where do you live? Is it hot? In the mountains? Not trying to stalk you, just curious.

colleen 07-03-2008 05:20 AM

engine #4

live in the mountains and that`s what seems to kick in the problems.they have told me something about seals.dave says they just haven`t really addressed the problem.the dealer ship has been great about every thing[matthews] i don`t want another car i`ve fixed this up the way i like it.i just want to go down the turnpike n.east extension at a normal 120 like every body else. it`s under warranty for another 6 years thanks to the guys at the dealership so i get no bills.but rental cars suck when you own an 8.

I have to agree with this, the actual numerical chance of having 4 improper engines is incredibly high, logic leaving just one common variable, the owner.

dmc27 07-03-2008 09:57 AM

^tough to really tell. Considering Easy_E1 is on his 4th engine despite constant attention/diagnostics by Mazda techs (the real ones, not the '3month stint dealer technicians') and even more by Easy & MM, I'm disinclined to put to much stock in the operator error factor. Some 8s just seem to be a massive problem child.

Good luck Colleen.

Astral 07-03-2008 11:01 AM

Also keep in mind that Mazda had its fair share of shitty remans, hence the switching of the plants and companies where remans are made. For example, we have a member here, RX8_Buckeye, who's on his 3rd engine, 2 engines within several weeks. So apparently the first replacement engine was crap, which caused a quick successive replacement with a 3rd engine.

altspace 07-03-2008 11:11 AM

I'm on 3rd as well. 2004 model year. 3K on odo engine replaced. 14K engine replaced. 32K engine replaced on 1/07. I'm third owner. Bought 3/07 and have not had a single problem since.

GAMBEAN 07-04-2008 05:54 PM

teknics hit it dead on. premix period. what octane your running btw? have you had detonation problems on your previous engines?

teknics you can hit 550rwhp on your fc w/ that set up.

I miss mine. :( I had to hi jack sorry.

Silver06 07-04-2008 07:33 PM

For the O/P and other 2/3/4 engine folks.

Just curious (and not feelin' searchy).

For those of you who have undergone multiple engine replacements...

When they replace your engine, are they re-using the original OMP?

I think there might be something.....

everytime i go to finish it i wind up adding in something new and better, by the tie its finished im probably looking at closer to 650whp due to meth injection etc. all i have to do now is actually finish it lol. in the process of redoing the FD again, which is getting so many more power-adders that it'll probably wind up in the 500's soon.
