My R3...

I went a priced up my 09 VR R3 the other day. I've just about worked a deal with Heritage in Bel Air. I just need to squeeze them a little more on my trade and I should be happy. My payment even goes down a little bit.

My wife doesnt feel good about me putting my daughter in the car (just turned 11mo) but I think its plenty safe. Has LATCH, side airbags, etc. Does anyone else put a child/ infant in the back? If she wont let me put her in, then I'm getting a rollbar.

I can't wait...I've been having R3 dreams for days now.

I want to put more down. I've got them at $1000 under invoice, but they put $17,000 on my trade and I know I can get $19,000 for it. Im buying the car from a long time friend, and I dont know how to play hard ball with him. I did car sales up until a week ago, but I suck on the consumer side of the table. I dont want to get up and be a dick to him becuase he is a family friend...I know he needs to make money too, and its a difference of $30/ month between what I was offered and what I know its worth. I also owe $19,000 on my car and dont want to roll negative equity.

Thoughts?

Anyway,

Gl with that Falcon. When i got my 04 WB, i haggled the shit outta the price and got them to drop 3500 below listed and that includes tax, title, tags, and full warranties. You kinda do have to be a dick though. But since its a family friend, do you really think $30 a month will really hurt you that much?

This one, he speaks ... truth.

"Whether 'tis nobler upon inopportune power application, to torque-steer badly and plant thy nose into the tree, or to assault yonder vegetation with the rear spoiler by way of fearsome oversteer? Nay, the modern instructions scribe would implore thee:

'Just learn to drive it, ya feckin' n00b!'"

Shakespeare, it ain't. :D:

I had a FWD Turbo SVT Focus...spun 4th gear...my 08 Camry V6 FWD wheel hops. Nothing beats the squat and thrust of RWD. My SVT Focus did oversteer though...had a gigantic rear sway bar (over1" thick).

No more FWD for me...I had two Miatas before and nothing beats a RWD Mazda when it comes to handling and fun to drive.

Plus, wifey is getting a Mazda3, dont wanna have the same car as her...

It seems like a safe enough car - if you're in the front seats. In the rear, if the doors are damaged, you might be stuck and unable to get out. There's been a few car fires where the rear passengers burned to death. This might be a coincidence, so use your own judgment.

as for your baby, i think it's a safe car. it might be a bit of a pain getting her in and out, but the safety rating of the car is pretty good and there's enough airbags. older kids might whine if stuck in the back seats for too long, but i see this as a pretty viable sports car for the family man, especially as far as safety is concerned. compared to the 911, it's way more user friendly

as for your trade-in. why not just sell your current car instead of trading in? you'll have better chance of getting your extra 2k and also not have to hassle w/ your friend. doing business w/ friends can be hard/messy

the car is safe for a baby, :) you would love your car as much as everybody in this forum.
