MD Tech Session December 15th

MSCW will hold a tech session at Gaithersburg Mazda December 15th, starting at 6:30pm. This is an opportunity for you to use their service bay/lift to do your own minor maintenance or service. You must bring your own tools and limit work to something you can finish in a hour or less. Due to liability issues, membership in MSCW is required to use the service bays. You may join at the tech session.

Visitors are welcome to see what goes on and socialize. There is a $5 fee which incldes pizza and sodas.

For more details and to RSVP visit our MSCW Tech Session page.

NOTE: This is the Maryland Tech Session so all RSVPs should go to the Maryland coordinator only.

as always, the MD tech session had a great turnout. at one point, all 9 lifts they had were used by members to lift their car up to do maintenance.

I was able to do an oil change on the 8 with relative ease. The dealer tech there let me borrow his trick filter wrench to take off the factory gorilla-installed oil filter, it came off so easy I couldn't believe it. Installed a Fumoto drain valve while car is on the lift as well, so oil change from now on should take about 20 minutes give or take :p

no pics from me, though other club members did take some, maybe they will post on mscw website soon...

overall a great tech night for mscw as always!

...and a heap of Miatas - mine included.

Its a lot easier to change your oil on a lift.

I also readjusted the oil drain on the turbo. I just switched out my big T3/T4 for a smaller T3. MUCH better on the Miata! :D Really screams as soon as I hit the gas (lag is gone) and the Profec B is having an easier time with the smaller wastegate can.

The T3 goes on the RX-8 this week.
