Lol yeah she was a trickster that's for sure. Never even saw it coming.

Do any of us MD peeps regularly attend any of the local meets or have our own? I know of a ton of reoccurring meets MD. Just never really seen any RX8 guys out at them. I'd love to meet up at a Cars & Coffee soon and hangout with everyone. Just take your pick of the one at Maple lawn, Timonium, Hunt Valley, Annapolis, Katies in Great Falls, or any of the others lol.

Hey bro nice to see you on here. I've not been hitting up the shows or meets for almost 2 years now. I am trying to get back to the same with meet ups near Annapolis MD. Glad you got a NEW RX8! We are dwindling fast...

This RX8 club regional forum used to have meets and joint events with the MD folks. Things like a RX8 club crab/clambake on Kent Island,MD; going to the MD BBQ Auto Show and Meet in Baltimore ( I took a second place in the Mazda category in my 2008 40th Anniversary Edition, a few years back); and having joint meets in neighboring states of DE and PA and Southern NJ at tracks and other venues, with the MD folks invited.

Group has been quiet lately. I know the DC area in the past has had an active RX7/RX8 enthusiasts group based around Rosenthal Mazda. Maybe checking in with those folks could alert you to events to attend.

Cars and Coffee is also a good place to connect.

Hey thanks man. I've been off the forums for the last month because it's been a crazy month lol. Birthdays, weddings, concerts and more. No big car meets yet. Lots of time away though and lots of miles on the new 8 lol. I'm going to be away the next 2 weekends as well as I'll be down in SC for a family vacation in Hilton Head. May or may not drive the 8.

When I get back though I'd love to try and meet up with some other rotards at a local C&C. Either the one in Annapolis, Maple Lawn, Timonium or Hunt Valley. Maybe even Kate's C&C down in Great Falls, VA if anyone else is down to meet up and cruise down? I used to go to Kates then stop at Maple Lawn on my way back since ML starts after Kates usually starts thinning out.

A Clam/Crab bake sounds pretty amazing too. Maybe we can make it a DMV area meetup at Kent Island at the big spot under the bridge. If there's interest I could post it up on RX7Club too and try and turn it into a DMV Rotary meet.

Needed: M12 x 1.25 x 50 mm or 55 mm long bolt, grade 12.9

Anybody know where to get that locally, or on teh Intarwebs?

Looks like my go-to source, Maryland Metrics, has gone out of business. They aren't answering their phone or emails and are marked as "closed" on Yelp.

I can find the bolts on feeBay, but I'd have to buy a pack of 50 for $40. I need two...

It's for the lower shocks mounts in the rear. I need to move the coilovers further inboard to stop the springs rubbing on the threaded adjusters. I'm nervous about adding more washers without having more threads.

I don't remember exact measurements, but say the stock bolts engage 20 mm of thread. I'm moving the shock out (in) 15 mm, leaving 5 mm of thread engagement with stock bolts. That's a Nope. Need moar thread...

Man the Maryland RX8 crew just seems to be non existent. I notice a few every once in a while driving around. All seem stock. No one waves. It's just sad that such a high populous and car focused area doesn't have a better rotor community. :/ After I had my first Rx8 10 years ago, I ended up having a Subie and an Audi as my haulers, and their communities are so active and friendly in this area. Anyone have any idea's to get our community more active?

I generally try and wave to everyone I see as well with little to no reaction. Had a guy I used to pass on my way home from work (he was always going the other way) in a red RX8 and we always waved to each other but that's about it. (Our office moved so I never see him anymore.)

I believe there are some people who go to Cars & Coffee on a semi-regular basis. I've never made it there myself. I'm generally up late on the weekends so I have trouble dragging myself out of bed to make it. I'd be interested in any meet ups that are maybe a little later in the day. Or if there is actually a decent crew showing up to C&C I might be convinced to get my lazy *** out of bed on occasion haha.

RE: Marlyland people

I’ve seen other RX8 owners on the road and honked my horn or waved and get no reply too.
I was thinking of doing a meet up at TurboXS one Saturday.
I’m sure they won’t mind a bunch of potential customers hanging out there for a few hours.

Would anyone one be interested in doing that?

Just now, heard a goat being strangled. Looked up from my desk in time to see a red RX-8 go right past my office eastbound on W. Padonia Rd near Beaver Dam Rd in Timonium. Sounded nice.

Drove past someone the other day around Cockeysville in a 40th anniversary RX-8 who actually waved back at me. Maybe there is hope yet.

Rioman, TurboXS is a bit of a trek for me but depending on the time I could still be down. Keep me posted.

Happy when I saw a red S2 heading South on Beaver Dam Road at 6-something PM a couple days ago.

Became sad when I remembered I was driving my econobox and couldn't BRAAAP! them a greeting...

RX-8 In Maryland

I just purchased a 2005 RX-8 and was looking for a recommednation on where to take it for oil changes, other maintenance and some after market modification work. I live in Harford county and want someone to work on my car that loves it as much as I do.

Thanks

Welcome!
Oil changes Id do anywhere, or DIY it, you'll certainly be doing a lot of them. I'm in Harford County too and am happy to do installs for aftermarket stuff, there isn't much on these cars I haven't done. Let me know if I can help, I've done engine rebuilds as well and can help you get the car setup for autocross if you're inclined.
