welcome, and grats on the car. Here's hoping you have a great time driving it. Don't flood the engine!

klepto 01-17-2008 08:49 AM

thanks and trust me I wont, lol....its just a simple thing just dont turn off cold thats all, lol.

but thanks for the welcomes.

GaMEChld 01-18-2008 02:42 AM

one day, on a day just like today, you'll be like hey, lemme move the car into the garage and put on my snow wheels, and a very important detail will slip your mind! AND THEN! THE CAR WILL NOT START! <cue scary music>

thats the stupid mistake i made last month heheheh

klepto 01-18-2008 07:18 AM

lol that sucks dude but no my friend has drilled into my head about shutting off cold....way before i even got the 8 but deff thanks for the warning though. it is much appreciated. Dumb question though in the event it does happen does that dechocking method really work?

sl8_ghost 01-18-2008 01:19 PM

anyone in long island get the axial flow short throw shifter installed? it seems like a worthy investment.. but it is pretty pricey.

elysium19 01-18-2008 03:20 PM

To be honest, I never had any problems with flooding, even when just moving the car, even when cold. This may vary a lot between different cars.....so.....don't stress too much about it unless you find it to be a problem once or twice.

heyarnold69 01-18-2008 05:08 PM

shifter... get it! as soon as posible!

Mine had flooded twice years ago, and once recently, Dechoking procedure never worked for me any of the times. First 2 times I had it towed to Mazda and let them deal with it. This time I just said to hell with it, and had my dad slowly and carefully tug my car with his for a pull start. Worked like a charm. However, I had tried starting it so long that I thrashed my battery, so it's pretty undercharged right now, which made me throw some lower numbers during a compression test.

If you have to deal with a flood, and the dechoking procedure doesn't work after a few tries, save your battery and get a few ppl and push start it, I'd say thats the easiest way to deal with it.
