Hi Wayne,

I seem to remember that parking is at a premium there. Is there a off-street lot? I only seem to remember the Princeton Pike shoulder parking, but maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I look forward to meeting everyone!

PS: Please pardon my poor dented and scratched RX-8 ;-(

Hey there -

You could say that, especially if they now they are forcasting 70 degree temperatures. I drive past once a week, and dont know of any parking lots, but you can park to the side/shoulder. It might be tight! Infact I think everywhere in Princeton is tight - there has always been parking issues. The pub will be worse, but we will see how it all pans out.
It will however be a great background for photos!

It will be good to see you - now what happened to your RX-8 - dented * horror *! :-)

Okay Travis. Hopefully the next one with the Rcop guys. We changed that meet to match theirs in Phila. Should be decent!

Well, when it was 9 days old (600 miles), my wife accidentally backed into the driver's front fender with her SUV. It dented the fender above the side marker, and took the paint off of the bumper in a couple of spots. Currently, I've had the dent pushed out by one of the paintless repair guys, but it isn't perfect because the dent was a pretty hard crease. And, the bumper is just touched up for now. Then, 2 months later, some mental deficient keyed the passenger side of the car while parked in the Best Buy parking lot in Bridgewater.

I've got estimates to have both things repaired properly, but I've got to wait to put the money together for it...

That's my sad story...

Yeah, what misfortune. I hear its not cheap either to fix in some places. Have you heard of Dent Wizard?

flatso 04-13-2004 10:15 AM

I have asked this question in another post but will there be anyone over the age of 35 going to this or will all you guys be calling me Gramps.

Senseny 04-13-2004 10:26 AM

Flatso, I think you will feel comfortable. We seem to be a little more "mature" than the 7 crowd, at least in years. I am just trying to put that in terms that are complementary to us 8 owners. When I post on the 7 board I tend to be more complimentary to the 7 owners--gotta play both sides.

You're still a kid!

Irish_in_a_RX8 04-13-2004 01:09 PM

You have your answer flatso ! :-)

Go4It 04-13-2004 01:21 PM

Wayne,
I'll catch up with you at the Pub. I have a golf match in Burlington Sunday. I should be clear by 4:00.

Travis,
We'll miss you. See you next time and stay out outta trouble in NYC!

Senseny 04-13-2004 06:50 PM

Trouble, who me?

yep, over 40 here too (just barely)...

dag 04-14-2004 02:03 PM

Just shy of the 35 mark.

I have to apologize again, I won't be able to make it this weekend. Ironically enough, I am going down to South Jersey for my dad's birthday, buy my schedule won't let me permit such an enjoyable excursion.

Hopefully next time.

Perhaps we will see you next time David.

Almost 30 here, cant say I am too excited either....

Updated the site today with a fresher look, plus feature member ride taken from the member image library. Bylaws are now in progress.....

I just want to confirm parking space at the battlefield. It is tight, as its off the side and a busy road, so we may have to move elsewhere afterwards.

I may have parking arranged for Triumph Brew Pub ( a neighboring business!) unsure as yet.

Irish_in_a_RX8 04-15-2004 09:41 AM

UPDATE:

April 18th Meet, Princeton NJ

"Encourage parking design for historic districts that is unobtrusive, minimizing the effect on the historic character of the setting.
Parking should be limited to that necessary to serve the proposed use."

Apparently parking is restricted at the Battlefield, I don't believe we can park more than 5 cars. Those who know Princeton will agree, parking is quite insane.

I need an exact headcount for the day, we may need to meet elsewhere in Princeton. If you can reply - that would be a great
help.

Suggestions on neighboring 'possible' meet spots will also help!

all the best and thanks!

Wayne,

I will take a ride into Princeton tonight and look for an alternative. I think that there are probably two options. Just northeast of Princeton on Rt 27 (Nassau St.) is a park with a lot near where the Delaware & Raritan canal crosses the road. Another possibility is Lake Carnegie which is off of Washington Boulevard, between Nassua St and Route 1. There might be parking there too.

I'll check them out after work today, and report back here later tonight.

(BTW - just got the M-flash today....)

Irish_in_a_RX8 04-15-2004 06:36 PM

Got the M Flash too - a few days ago. Feel any difference. I still am unsure but will take a ride again tonight.

I thought about that place - lake carnegie...I have seen people there on good weather days. I appreciate your time looking into it. Poor organization on my part - but I did not think that this might be a larger turnout!

Wayne,

I sent you an email regarding two different Lake Carnegie parking options.

So far, any difference with "M" are subtle (at least with moderate driving style). I ran about 150 miles on the old flash, and about 90 miles on the M on this tank, and got 20.6mpg. However, the first 120 miles were pure highway...

Accelleration with M is very smooth, idle is also smooth, with occasional wiggles - but this is the same as it was before for me. I run 87 most of the time.

Irish_in_a_RX8 04-16-2004 11:34 AM

Looks good.

Lake Carnegie is the meet spot.

This is my last post before the meet at Lake Carnegie. See you all at 1.30/2pm!

All the best

To anyone attending... The meeting parking area is the CIRCLED area on the map in the link above, not the star on the map.

w2aew 04-18-2004 05:45 PM

Beautiful Day, Nice turnout!

It was great to meet 10 of my fellow RX-8 owners today - great day in Princeton. Here's two pictures at the lake...
