Talking Chris Carlisi Memorial Event is on a track! 8/31/13 Come down and get involved.

Based on last year's successful Chris Carlisi Memorial Meet at NJMP-Lightning with the TrackTime4Cars organization, we are again having it on track with them at the newly-repaved Pocono Raceway 2.5 mile Long Track configuration

The main event and track day will be Saturday August 31st with an additional track day on Sunday September 1st.

I'm hopeful that given the long lead time given this time around, the event will be even bigger and better in 2013. More details to follow, and hope to see you all there

For all those that are new or haven't really been involved in the rotary scene up here in the NE. This is a great event to go to and meet fellow rotorheads and show off your ride.

Will a DOT Sportsbike helmet count

I have yet to do any track events and I like the instructor thing, price does not seem to bad either IMO.

Generally no. They usually want a Snell approved helmet... I just had to buy one because they stopped letting me use my DOT bike helmet and the loaners smell like the *****.

And it is a pretty good price, Summit Point charges around $250 for something similar.

The more stock your car is, the more likely you are to pass tech, just make sure the fluids are full, brake fluid is bled, brakes aren't dead, and tires aren't shot. It's once you start adding mods that it starts becoming a more focused effort to ensure you pass tech.

The exact tech rules change based on the organization, but largely the differences start showing up more if you move further and further from stock.

I live 30 minutes east of this... I might have to show up.

Or the MSM if I still have it. Waiting for this dealer's general manager to return from vacation to start negotiating trade in price and purchase price on the R3 I test drove.

You would think, but no not at all. If you do some research you might be surprised to find that "DOT Approved" basically means nothing. It's a set of standards that the manufacture has to adhere to... only they don't have to actually test the helmets, they just have to feel that it will pass if tested.
Where as having a helmet Snell approved costs the manufacturer extra money to have them test it and approve it. And depending on it's rating it is only good for 12 years (Snell 2000= 2012 expired, Snell 2005= 2017, Snell 2010 = 2022, etc)

totally different

a DOT helmet means when something happens, the helmet will most likely break just like your head

a Snell helmet on the other hand, might still break but not your head

that's the difference.
