Just met my first ignorant 8 owner

Well, i didnt "meet" him. I was sitting at a left turn light that had 2 left turn lanes. Waiting for the light to turn green, when i see in my rear view a blue rx8 pulling up next to me. It had the spoiler and appearance package and dark tinted windows. It pulled up right next to me, and me being me I waved and smiled. The guy just looked at me and then looked back at the light. Light turned green and he tried to speed through the turn and take off on the straight away. I turned left again a few feet later to go back to work, and he went straight.

I have to admit i havent felt much mazda love having this car. I use to own a 93 VW corrado vr6, and the vw crew knew respect. Any vw you passed with some work done to it would nod or wave at me, and vice versa. I pass a mazda 3/6 or another rx8 now, and the kids driving them just try to race you or ignore you

Half the fun of having a car like this is the people you meet in the same circle. I havent been to any gtg's yet for this crew, but just judging by the respect on the road, other mazda owners dont seem like the enthusiasts vw guys did.

I've gotten a bunch of those down here. You wave and they look at you like you have two heads. Most of the ones I've seen have been women, however, who probably just bought the car for looks, not because they care about it. Makes me so mad....waste of a good car.

I've only run across one other RX-8. Stopped behind him at a light, I flashed my hi-beams a couple times. I could see his smile as he looked in the rear-view mirror and waved.

I followed him on the freeway and we both wound out every gear.

It's the same in the Jeep world. I drive an '85 CJ-7 back and forth to school. The 'old school' crowd that drive other CJs, or sometimes even modified Wranglers, will toss out the 'Jeep Wave'. But most people don't bother. It's usually a teeny-bopper who bought it because it was cute. There's a guy in town with a Rubicon who won't even give me a nod when I wave...it's a very, very sad thing.
Some people get it, some don't. I pity those that don't.

Challenge them to run the Dragon with you.. so you can leave them quivering on the side of the road crying like a little baby.. Why do you think I had to have Bodo drive my car back? :D

Anytime you run into a situation like that, just give ol' Bodo a call. I had a really hard time getting used to driving the Jeep after spending time in your 8. I was sitting up too high, wasn't going fast enough and the brakes didn't work as good.

*sigh*

I think I've been ruined!

I know what you mean.. I had to rent a F-150 to haul stuff one time.. yet I still drove it like I drive the 8.. NOT a good thing..

I'm glad we do have good 8 owners to hang out with, such as Elara, Raz, Epi, meow, and everyone at DT.. and good future owners such as Bodo (maybe?)!!!

I'd love to have one. Maybe when I'm done with school I can find a nice used one. If the MazdaSpeed 8 ever gets released in the US, I think I may have a line on one
*pokes Elara* :p

yeah yeah yeah, keep your pants on :p

Bodo's been harassing me to give him my car almost since the day I bought it.

One of my favorite parts of the Dragon last weekend was how many waved as they drove by. The BMW group, especially- they were wave happy freaks(I waved back, though, so I guess I'm one too)! Sadly, not a SINGLE S2000 waved at us.

I guess they liked you better than me. Not a single one waved to us.

The BEST group for waving are the older Corvette owners (older as in driving a pre-1972 Corvette).

I wave at all of the older cars...but, being a snob, don't wave at any of the newer ones as my experiance has been they don't have a clue about the wave and they are too stuck up driving a big $$$ car to wave back (I doubt they even know an older 'vette when they see one). Pre-72s have class!
