Failed NJ Inspection

argggggg, water in the taillights and my radar dectetor is and obstruction of view

Ceez76 10-30-2006 04:45 PM

that sucks

maxxdamigz 10-30-2006 04:53 PM

Oh - that's easy! Go yell at your dealer who should fix the taillight and alleviate a rather annoying problem. Then pull your radar detector out for a day.

DukeGG1 10-30-2006 05:10 PM

I have thick spider webs in one of my tail lights! Nice touch for Halloween, but would the dealer fix that, too?

chrism 10-30-2006 05:29 PM

you are joking right?.....why would you go to the inspection station with these issues?.....is your car under warantee?.....what posessed you to keep your radar on the windshield????

RXSeven1 10-30-2006 05:50 PM

1. radar detectors arnt illegal in nj. good thing i didnt put my windsheld banner on yet. they were just being difficult.

2. i have never heard of being failed for condensation in the talights. all of my lights illuminate properly and are visible.

3. i had scheduled my car to go in for recall and serivce bulletins this friday....

Alucard 10-31-2006 09:38 AM

Heres alittle something for you.....

Radar detectors arent illegal in NJ no, but if it is in the windshield or another part of the top of the dash which is in view of the windshield, you may still get written a ticket for ubstructed view.

My friend. You own an 93 Rx-7and 04 Rx8. You are the man! I will come over and fix those problems personally out of respect for your allegiance to the rotary!! :)

yeah it sounds like they were just bein dicks

why'd you have to get inspected anyway?

dmp 10-31-2006 10:44 AM

For the record, "State Inspections" are among the biggest scams/extortion programs in the nation. I hope to God I never live in a state which goes that route. It's ONLY about finding ways to make money for the state...another form of taxation :(

maxxdamigz 10-31-2006 11:25 AM

NJ inspection is free. They provide facilities to do the inspections in a fairly efficient manner and while they might fail you for all sorts of stuff, I generally haven't had much of a problem with them. I have known which of my cars were "legal" and would pass before hand. On the other cars, I just have it inspected privately.

expo1 10-31-2006 11:40 AM

Also on new cars you do not have to get it inspected for 4 years. I will have over 110,000 miles on my 8 before it's due for inspection. Used cars it's every 2 years.

I got a $50 ticket in NJ for having a GPS suctioned to my windshield. It certainly wasn't obstructing my view. But according to the police officer anything attached to the windsheild is. I asked about the stock GPS, how it pops out, and if that would be considered an obstruction. He said no. Seems pretty retarted because my GPS is a palmpiolet which is alot smaller then the stock one.

RXSeven1 10-31-2006 11:00 PM

laws are so funny....in that case the INSPECTION STICKER is an obstruction of my view. fuckers.

chrism 11-01-2006 10:23 AM

Alucard 11-11-2006 10:29 PM

One of my coworkers parents owns a shop. He has someone that comes in and does inspections. I think you have to pay though, like $30. If any one needs it let me know.
