F*cked Up Mazdaspeed Body Kit

I called the good folks over at rosenthal mazda asking about the MS Kit for my 8 and aparently a BIG time flaw has been found with them. According to the info I got the templates you use to drill holes in your bumper for the kit are WAY off. :Eyecrazy: Mazda is aparently working to figure out whats going on but has anyone else heard this? By the way if your about to buy a MS Kit you may want to wait or atleast call your vendor and enquire about this.

dude the MS kit is a direct fit....what are you talking about??

nycgps 10-19-2006 10:38 AM

I have original MS kit.

what do you mean by drilling holes in the bumper ? front bumper ?

If u're talking about rear, You have to CUT your original bumper to fit the MS one in, its just cover up.

and for the side, yes you have to drill holes.

you also might have to drill for the rear trunk

nycgps 10-19-2006 10:41 AM

also , if you're talking about the spoiler, yes you have to drill holes (its using factory spoiler holes, if you dont have it like mine, u have to , other wise, take the factory one off and snap the new one on)

the strake instructions are the ones that are really off :)

I'm just passing on the info I was given when I was calling to see if they had any of the kits in stock for my 8.

Here is their number... Give them a call and they can tell ya... 1800-347-3493

I think they may have meant the sides. If you have to use the template there then i think that may be it.

I dunno bro, its news I got so I thought I would pass it on to hopefully save someone in here some trouble.

well, holes are drilled on the side to keep the side skirts holding to the car.

landon is just spreading some news, but they maybe mean sides.
I had my body shop guy do it without drilling holes. it worked out great when I sold the sides. It was held on harder with the black epoxy glue than the screws :)

How well does epoxy work? I would think that epoxy and even double sided tape would fail after a while from heating and cooling (constant expansion and contraction) :scratchhe

no doubled side just epoxy, it is the strongest bonding I have ever encountered. rotary rider comment can show you I never thought glue worked that well.
p.m if you want me to get more info on it.
