EMRA 2010 dates!!!

Posted from http://emraracing.org/

The 2010 EMRA Calendar has been set. There are several changes on this years schedule. Most notably, different (warmer??) weekends have been secured at some of our favorite tracks. While a few "traditional" weekends have been moved or removed.

Date Track
May 8th Pocono - Full Course
May 22nd, 23rd Summit Point
June 19th Monticello
July 9th Lime Rock
July 30th, 31st, 1st NJMP - Lightning
Aug 27th, 28th Lime Rock
Sept 18th, 19th NJMP - Thunderbolt
Oct. 2nd, 3rd Pocono North
Nov. 13th, 14th Summit Point

Coming Soon!!! Several exciting format changes to our Sprint and Time Trial programs will be announced!!! Stay tuned to EMRARacing.org for postings!!
I will be trying to attend as many of these dates as possible. We should try and get a big rx8 group going for this. I live close to NJMP and Pocono so those of you that live far away could crash at my place the night before. As long as you return the favor if you live close to any of the other tracks.
If you have not done a track event before it is SO MUCH FUN!!!! Who's interested?!?!

It's a small racing organization that invites anyone to drive their vehicles on the tracks they rent. As long as your vehicle passes tech at the track, you have a snell approved helmet and you follow their rules. First timers get $100 off and an instructor at no additional cost. Visit the site for details.

oh, sweet!!!

The website was very confusing and really does not lay out what they do very well at all. But..

They don't require harnesses or anything do they? Just make sure the car can pass and you have a helmet?

Now i know some track days that are easy for me to get to!!!

EDIT:
I just looked at the website again and it is a mess of seemingly jumbled and disorganized information. What I am looking for here? Time Trials?

Yes it is alittle confusing. Time trials is what you're looking for as a first timer. No harness required. If your car isn't heavily modified you will pass tech as long as you have decent tire tread and brake pads (VERY IMPORTANT). Also the prices and dates haven't been "finalized" so there is nowhere to sign up as of yet.

TT info here: http://emraracing.org/Emratt.htm#info

Rules here: http://emraracing.org/emrarule.htm

From the confusion specs it looks like regardless, if you're doing time trials (by yourself racing) or racing wheel to wheel, you need roll bars. That's saying no matter what, you need roll bars to race with them, and a 5-6 pt harness is mandatory.

Where's the sanctions to just strap down with a helmet and maybe a fire suit to get some track time instead of needing to modify your car..geez

I want the basics here. Get some track time without the hassle of having to have a fully modified car.

I look at places like MVPtracktime.

I guess I should say, do they do newbie things where you can show up in the car, pass inspection, put on your helmet and seatbelt and go out.

INCORRECT, stated from the website rules.

"for Time Trialers Only -- three-point harness with metal to metal mounting required as a minimum. OEM seatbelts or equivalent are acceptable, but must be in good working condition. A PROPERLY INSTALLED four, five, six, or seven-point racing harness is acceptable, but not required."

Ok... they really need to work on that website and organize the data better....

How much does a typical day or weekend of track time cost?

The 100 dollar off thing for first timers is also a huge +

a friend and I are thinking of Summit Point in may (if the date above stands), very close to us and would be a perfect day trip.

The website isn't the best obviously but this seems to be a small grassroots type racing group that seem to like racing better then website building haha. The people are all SUPER nice and help new racers.

Last year the price was $225 per day not including the $100 off. There was a new "license fee" for newbies of $20 if you want the license at the end of the day as well. So total price last year was $145 for the full day. We got to go out 6 times and roughly 10 laps a session. So $145 for 60 laps. It was worth EVERY penny.

That was last year so prices may or maynot increase .

Here are some pictures last year at NJMP https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...ts+park&page=3

Also, if anyone know the organizers, let them know their website is broken and you can't sign up for anything.

anyone know how to get in touch with these people?

The website is broken, you cant register an account, you can't register online, you cant even use their contact us form because its all broken. I've tried using their fcae book group to no avail. I really want to do Summit Point in may and I want to make sure I can get registered now.

I'd so gladly help them with the site if I could, Id get them host, a mySQL database and even fix up the pages to make them work with it etc...

PS - This is all incorrect; registering is easy. They don't have the shiniest website in the world, but racers don't have the shiniest cars either.

ummmmmm no. it's true they changed their 3rd-party registration site, but the previous site was very similar and just as easy to use.

and the main site has all the info you need. And I've emailed the registrar and other fols on various occasions and never had any problem contacting anyone.
