What kind of driving? Track? Autocross?
Ayer is just up the road from you... that's where most of the auto-xing is done with either the New England Region SCCA (http://www.ner.org) or many other clubs (Renegade Miata/Boston BMW/SHO CLub/SVT Club... etc)
Autocross is a decent bang for the buck in low speed situations and Track is good for that high speed sphincter clench kinda situation.
Autocross starts around $30-$40 a day and you don't need much special to run. Run what ya brung. Good instruction, but not much seat time for the day.
Then there's the evolution driving school, which concentrates on auto-x type driving. Loads of seat time in one day. More info: http://www.boston-bmwcca.org is hosting it.
Track is around $180+ a day for a school, but also goes though more consumables (brakes/brake fluit/tires) faster than auto-x and gets up there.
To some, it comes down to how much do you want to pay to play.
