The Calm before the Storm

Hadn't taken my '8 out in a couple weeks and today's sunny 45 degf after a week of snow/salt-clearing warmth and rain made my usual backcountry route sublime. Topped off with 93 and some Stabil, detail sprayed it (even tho' not much road dust) and Winter-covered back up. Looks like a couple weeks of hibernation ahead. Oh well, good memories from today to hold me.

"Snowfall totals of 8 to 14 inches are expected by Monday evening."

Yeah, I'm working from home tomorrow. Heh.

I dont pay attention anymore to the weather channel unless its a couple hours before a storm is gonna hit.

They try to scare you, "O yeah the northeast will get 1000000 inches of snow by the morning!!!"

Then couple hours before, you check again, "1-2 inches of snow expected".

LOL its funny. They said i was supposed to get 4-6 inches yesterday, this morning and this afternoon. I just checked again 5 minutes ago to make sure so i can put my wipers up on my car and spread some salt on the ground to get it ready and it said, "1-2 inches of snow expected".

Thats nothing.

We got something like 4 inches, I just drove to work, the roads didn't have much traffic at 10am and I got in fine.

We ended up getting 6", sleet compressed to 4". Took me an hour and a half to shovel the heavy stuff. I'd rather face a foot of dry.

yup, after predicting 6+ inches at the end of last week, they changed to 3 inches at most by this a.m.

I stayed home until it stopped snowing then came to work when it looked like the roads would be fine. I have a short commute, but it hits 4 highways - so if the roads get bad it's a massive nightmare to get home.

wow, the weathermen got it right at my place....they said 8-14 inches, and we got aright about a foot. I did a little work from home, took the snow blower out & blasted the driveway, and went to work. Roads weren't bad at all

We got atleast 4" here in Norwood. Shoveled the heavy stuff around 9am then after that the snow let up by alot. Overall the storm was hyped up a bit but I think after the last major storm we had they didnt want to be blamed for not warning people. I'd hate to be a weatherman, one of those "Damned if you do, Damned if you don't." jobs.
