Anyone in NJ use their 8 as a daily driver?

Hows it stand up to the winters with some good tires?

I can tell you it does fairly poorly on bad tires. I've heard it's manageable on snow tires.

I have had my car on the roads in west milford for 3 years. I have run mostly Blizzak snows which are like driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle and have never been stuck. The only problem I have is the lower height because I have RB springs.

I have all-seasons on mine

no problems using it in the winter

I used my 8 as a daily driver for the first 2 years. Put 24K/yr on it. I have winter tires (which I highly recommend), but it still isn't that good in the snow, especially if it gets deep. I wouldn't take the 8 out in significant snow.

The other issue I had by using it as a daily driver is the front bumper has nicks all over it. I mean everywhere. It looks awful up close.

Still - all in all - I would use it as a daily driver again if I had to.

Oh - and I did this driving all over NJ. I moved from North to South in 2004, but regularly drive everywhere in NJ except NW NJ.

Been doing so for 91,000 miles. But I do have winter tires and a 4x4 beater for the bad days.

Ive had m car for almost a year now. I got it in October, and ive had it through the winter and drove it the entire time.

Needless to say, at the time i didnt have much money for winter tires, so i tried to stick it out on the summer tires, and it suprisingly wasnt to terrible. And i dont even have traction control.

Not me a got beater but have taken it out on some snow days and would not do that again.

Had it for four years, using all seasons. It is as good as any normal car (deep snow means no go regardless, unless you have an SUV... and a will ;o) ) Don't even try the stock tires - you'll use that will sooner than intended... I'm running Proxes 4 now - almost 20,000 but will replace before next snow comes around... For those spooky moments - I have chains for the rear. Did not have to use them just yet, but one never knows...

Did you have winter tires?

I drive mine as a DD with cooper zeon 2Xs. This winter wasn't terrible...but I only went out when there was 1/2 to 1 inch of snow on the road. I did about 25 mph...30 tops and that wasn't bad...a bit shakey. Turns posed slightly more trouble but they were managable. Slush and rain isn't a problem with them.

DoubleS69 05-07-2007 07:28 AM

i drive mine every day although it hasnt seen a winter yet (just bought it). i too have a beater truck to drive around on crap days. won't even risk driving it in the snow after getting stuck at the top of my street with my Celica about a year ago

I like the snow-4-wheel drifting. It's fun and scary at the same time. Just watch out for....everything
