What is the going rate for the car? Where could I get this info...aside from kelly blue.

I know when I bought my 2009 R3, 3 years ago, I paid $14000 at a dealership. It was in pretty good condition and had 45k miles. I think you could get away with selling it for $12000. What does your compression numbers look like

The best indicator of how much life a rotary engine has left is a rotary-specific compression test. Nobody should ever buy a rotary without one unless it is advertised as "rolling chassis".

To that end, I strongly recommend to have one performed at a Mazda dealership and make sure they give you the results in writing.

KBB seems to think your car is worth about $8600 to a private party. Autotrader only has four R3s listed nation-wide ranging from $7k to $13k.

Good compression numbers will sell the car. Poor numbers won't. Hope they are good, car looks sweet.

If it is in super sweet condition (perfect seats, no interior scratches, etc), take hi-quality pics, do a detailed write-up, price it at 16k and wait. someone will come along who wants an R3.

If it is in average condition, clean up up well anyway, ask 12k and go from there.

I happily paid 14.5k iirc at a dealer for my 24k mile R3 2yrs ago. It was in darn-near perfect condition. I would have paid more - I wanted the car!
