PICS from RX Meet at Woodward Dream Cruise 8/18 11am
Did you Michigan guys know there's a Michigan Rotary Club? Well these guys are hosting a gathering on Saturday, August 18th for the Woodward Dream Cruise. They know someone who has a private lot that they can park in and gather for the cruise.
For those who have been to the cruise before, you know how hard it is to find a place to park on the loop. Here, we're going to have a lot full of rotaries.
LINK TO THE MICHIGAN ROTARY CLUB THREAD
Check out their thread, feel free to sign up on their board if you want (not required) and come on down.
They will have a cook out. If you'd like to bring something, either post up on MIRotaryclub.net or let me know and I'll pass the message along.
The earlier you arrive, the better the spots. They will be setting up in the am and people will show up around 11am. Even if you don't want to stay, drop by and say hi. Check out the cars and chit-chat. It would be good to meet y'all.

I am organizing the event. I need to make sure i have a head count of who is going to show up and with what. Woodward is completly packed for the entire stretch. Post in the forum or send me an e-mail saying you will be there. For those who have posted in the MIrotaryclub.net forum I already have you accounted for.
Those who have not posted and want to park with other 7's and 8's. please let me know.
Sincerely,
Rich "Groll69"

Just a bump - this weekend's weather looks absolutely perfect!!!
Mid 70's , partly cloudy with only a 20% chance or precipitation.
Like Rich said above, it is impossible to find parking on the loop. The fact that this is available is a golden opportunity. You can hang out with us, park and walk the loop, set up chairs along Woodward, do what you want.
Don't miss it and end up kicking yourself after seeing the pictures posted.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics. The wife and daughter are out of town with my Canon EOS Digital SLR. Otherwise I would have really good pics. Time for another camera!
Here they are ...

The smoke from one of many burnouts! The camp next to us kept spreading water on the ground for those who want to light 'em up. Many of these rides didn't need the water. LOL
Not every car that showed up was a Mazda. This M3 was a beauty.
An awesome Suzuki Sidekick with a Mazda 13B engine. This thing sounded wicked! Very nicely done!!!

And a couple 350Zs ... sweet!
Unreal! I still have an appreciation for muscle cars. However the owners tend to forget that not all roads are straight. Care to take this down the Dragon in Tennessee?

A Vette "trying" to light the tires. Many drivers didn't know how or their cars just couldn't. It was funny to watch sometimes.
Uh, this thing scared me away from the curb. I had visions of him coming up on the curb in mid-launch. He didn't try it. I think he knows this is no place to unleash the beast. This was one of my favorites.
The Police didn't seem to mind off road vehicles on the loop. No way is this street legal. In addition to this, there were many golf carts with lift kits and big tires and other odd vehicles. This was like a parade with burnouts.
This is barely legal. LOL
Of course the Police were out. Actually, they were all over. They kept things to a mild crazyness. I have to praise Pontiac Police for not being jerks by ticketing everyone. We kept it safe and they let us all have fun.

The location was great! Nice shade, great place to see all the cars, nice lot with a somewhat crazy way to enter. (Nice so we didn't have to keep kicking other cars out.
Out for the cruise ... Just trying to get all out cars together on Woodward was a trick. It didn't work out.
I just took one pic during the cruise. This was a group of Hearses. Imagine how many dead bodies have gone for a ride in these cars.

I was out there on Saturday but not until 5:30 or so. Looked for the parking lot as I went around the loop but didn't see you guys. You mentioned about people not knowing how to light up the tires... I was one of them, lol. Tried twice and wheels just seemed to skip or jump instead of squeeling(yes stability control was off). Not sure what I was doing wrong, any tips?

LOL!! Our cars were meant to have traction, not burn tires. Look for one of the guys spreading water on the road for burn outs. You need to get the tires slipping in the water and moving fast before anything will happen. I tried only once and I have no idea if anything came of it. I was stationary momentarily and it slid sideways then I backed off and it gained traction. Did it actually smoke? I didn't look back and see. I don't normally do such abusive things. Hehe!
