All car.

kcmo 03-14-2007 06:53 PM

I'm in. I would rather try to meet at a restraunt or something. Instead of having a barbecue somewhere. Just my 2 cents.

webgrl 03-14-2007 10:22 PM

The restaurant meet is on Tuesday, March 27th (the other thread). The park will be a better opportunity for pictures.

Smog2k 03-19-2007 11:57 AM

Will do my best to get the Mz3/Mz6 crowd to join! More people. More food. More beer.

Tirminyl 03-19-2007 12:21 PM

Erm, probably no beer. As for the meet, I am unable to gather anyone as I just found out there is a huge car gathering at SMP the end of this month and another huge car cruise the weekend of this meet. So far my tally = 0.

webgrl 03-28-2007 03:36 PM

What car cruise are you talking about?

Tirminyl 03-29-2007 09:36 AM

Its another local site. The cruise is actually on t he 15th so no worries. We need a list of who is going. I originally thought of grabbing some catering food from Oklahoma Joes or if someone is great at a grill then we can do that. So we need specifics as to what you all prefer. OR we could meet up for pics, hangout, etc., and cruise somewhere for food or something.

Lets get this going!

webgrl 03-29-2007 09:42 AM

Here's the new list as I know it:

1. webgrl - Jenny (plus Jon)
2. tirminyl - Mark
3. rotaryfan04 - Chris
4. sexyrotarygoddess - Jayna
5. kcmo - Ryan
6. kvandal - Matt
7. foolio_jones - J.D. (plus kiddos?)
8. smog2k - Aaron (plus mz3/mz6 folks?)

I have done the ol' assume on some of y'all. Let me know if you can't make it. If you're not on the list, repost the list and add your name.

My personal preference would be for someone to do the grilling and we could all sign up for foods to bring ... burgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad, etc.

Smog2k 03-29-2007 09:59 AM

Man a lot of pressure on me. I just hope I'm not promising a big game and nothing happens getting the Mz3/Mz6 folks!

What time are you looking at gettng out there, several of the guys are already asking....

Tirminyl 03-29-2007 10:08 AM

If we reserve a shelter (I can't because I don't live in KS) the time slots are like 1 or 2-4 or something like that. I will have to call to double check.

No pressure, but it's definitely open invite. I think we're shooting for 12 or 1, but it depends on what time we can reserve the shelter, as Mark mentioned.

I don't live in KS either, so who does?

Smog2k 03-29-2007 10:36 AM

Posted a few other places and hopefully someone knows how the whole process works. I'm in KS, if someone lets me know what has to be done, I can make the call and get a shelter locked down.

Tirminyl 03-29-2007 10:42 AM

Is mazdas247 down?

Smog2k 03-29-2007 11:12 AM

Think so. I was having trouble with it. Might have something to do with the legal stuff that got approached with yesterday.

Found some info on renting a shelter. I can do it if you guy let me know what you want.
Shelter #s: http://www.jcprd.com/parks_facilitie...n_shelters.cfm
Pricing: http://www.jcprd.com/parks_facilitie...ns_rentals.cfm

Tirminyl 03-29-2007 11:51 AM

Shelter 4 has the large area with lots of tables etc. Shelter 3 is a little shack big enough for 2 people, lol. http://www.jcprd.com/parks_facilitie...ee_mission.cfm

Remember we don't have to reserve but its best so we don't get kicked out by someone who has.

webgrl 03-29-2007 12:15 PM

I don't know anything about the park, so I'll default to you guys to choose a shelter. Just from what I read online, we'd probably be good with a small shelter. Even shelter 3 says it has seating for up to 32 people and the lake view might make for a nice picture background. But again, I am just going on what the website says, so I'll take advice from those who've actually been there.

I think we should definitely reserve a shelter... it would only be a few dollars per person and it would be worth it to have a dedicated spot that we couldn't get kicked out of.

I don't understand this part of the website though... is there a special process since it's the last day of the "off season"?

OFF-SEASON SHELTER RESERVATIONS: The Park District issues permits for off-season shelter rentals from October 16th thru April 14th through the Parks & Golf Courses Division (913-894-3341). Patrons who choose to take a chance that a shelter will be available without a reservation run the risk of having to vacate the shelter immediately upon arrival of a group holding a reservation.

Smog2k 03-29-2007 12:27 PM

I'll cruise the park this weekend and get an idea of the good shelters with a nice parking lot. Then either decide to reserve or to not reserve once I figure out what the crap "Off Season" means.

Unfortunately, I'm out. Just found out I will have some family in town. Couple that with a pair of soccer games and the warden has locked me down. My apologies to all!

J.D.

webgrl 03-29-2007 09:57 PM

Thanks, Aaron, that's great.

Boo, J.D.! Hehe, just kidding. We'll catch ya next time.

OlatheRX8 03-30-2007 08:47 PM

I'd like to show up as well. I can't say that I've ever been to SMP. Can someone give me a pair of cross roads I can look up on a map?
Do we need to bring anything other than the car? (But then I wasn't thinking of walking there.)

(OK, i've found a map, and looked it up. No problem getting there.)
