To anyone in the Detroit area, where does one go to get new bearings pressed in, or what type of shop would be the best bet?

Mains and Rotor

They usually do the big 3 but maybe give Livernois a call. They have a crazy good engine room.
If not I would drive down to defined auto works.

It’s a bit of a drive but you could also check out baker engineering in spring lake. They are by me and have built some nice stuff. They have had a few wankles go through also so they are ok working on them.

Thanks for the input, but you were literally a day late ;-) Ending up going to Chips Motorsports in Warren, he's a rotary only shop and did a great job for a competitive price.

Good to know didn’t know we had a rotary guy in Michigan. I’ll have to look them up as I’d like to have a shop to go to for my build wanna buy a spare motor and have it built and ported then just do a swap.

Having anything special done to your while apart?
If it’s done in time I’ll be hitting either opening weekend of gratten 10-11 April or the Audi days the weekend of the 25th. Audi probably because my buddy has two and I’m sure he wants to do that one.

Are there any SE MI rotary friendly car clubs? I'm near Ann Arbor and trying to find some clubs that I can be a part of casually.

Well sorry to here you live in the armpit of Michigan🙂. I’m not much into what’s happing over on that side I’ve always had best lucky hanging out at track events like open track days.

:yelrotflm I used to be in the St. Joseph area, but work brought me out here. LOTS of car events out here, but mostly American muscle. AA has a motor club that I will see about more, but last time I went to their cars and coffee there was a line of about 12 Porsches and then some other stupid expensive cars, with a few not so expensive ones.

So do you hit up Grattan, Gingerman, any others? I'm not opposed to track days, but I'm really not wanting to prep a car for that sort of abuse.

Snox801 06-26-2021 08:14 AM

I do both those tracks and do zero real prep for mine.
I do open track days so it’s not really a race you just get to have fun with your car with everyone going the same direction and no trouble from the law.
I spend most my time checking out cars and talking with people. I do prefer gratten though.

I usually go in the spring and fall as it’s not so hot between runs and I’m extremely busy June July august for work.
I just air down my tires a bit too off oil and add a few more ounces premix and hit the track.
