This weekend I'll be taking my K&N Typhoon v2 intake off and selling it if anyone is interested. Perfect shape and comes with everything. I'm looking to make some quick money so if anyone is interested I'd take $100 for it. Check how much they're selling for in the marketplace and you'll know this is a steal so I won't be budging on that price.

Absolutely nothing wrong with it and it'll come FULLY assembled which means you don't have to take anything off of your car except for the MAF sensor. It comes with the screens and everything already put together and it all works perfectly.

I dropped my last RX-8 myself and it was never right. It took the entire day and I had a clunk or two. I've lowered many a car in my time but I sucked at dropping an RX-8. lol

They charged me three hours labor which is about exactly how long it took.

How is everyone in Kansas/Missouri doing?

The past 2 months have brought me a broken clutch pedal, two fried air pumps, and two fried catalytic converters. Needless to say at this point I have a reinforced clutch pedal (from Race Roots), I just unplugged the stupid air pump, and I have a 3" mid-pipe with a Vibrant resonator welded in place. My car runs it's ass off now but it smells really, really bad. Hopefully I'll get used to it, but so far I'm not. :rollingla

Wouldn't you know it. Its nearing the end of the season, and I finally have time to actually do something with my 8. Bummer. I guess I'll just have to wait until spring and hope I still have time to play.

And I'm a bit curious. How does one manage to break a clutch pedal?

On September 23, 2009, the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation to investigate allegations of the clutch pedal bracket failures in MY 2004 - 2006 Mazda RX8 vehicles. In response to an information request letter sent by ODI, Mazda stated that the failure mechanism may be related to an improper fastener attachment sequence to the body. The improper sequence may create a distortion of the pedal bracket and create a stress amplitude during pedal usage that may go beyond the wear out limit of the bracket. Mazda stated that the percentages of vehicles experiencing the defect is low at approximately 1% of the vehicle population projected to 10 years in service based on analysis of warranty claim data that best represented the alleged defect. In terms of risk to motor vehicle safety, Mazda stated that the failure is progressive with warning manifested in noise and difficulty in shifting gears prior to complete failure of the bracket. Mazda also stated that when a bracket fracture occurs the clutch pedal may lean towards the brake pedal however gear shifting becomes impossible prior to any contact of the clutch pedal to the brake pedal. ODI is not aware of any crashes associated with a clutch pedal bracket failure in the subject vehicles. ODI's analysis of warranty claim data provided by Mazda yielded failure rates of approximately 3% projected over 10 years in service. ODI's analysis of Vehicle Owner Questionnaire (VOQ) data complaint indicates that approximately 5% of the VOQ complainants allege they were unable to get out of the roadway as a result of a clutch pedal bracket failure. None of these incidents occurred on a highway. Approximately 7% of the complainants alleged a contact condition after a clutch pedal bracket failure of the clutch pedal to the brake pedal. None of these complaints noted difficulty in getting the vehicle stopped. Mazda has informed ODI that it will conducted an Owner Notification of an extended warranty coverage program increasing the clutch pedal assembly warranty to 8 years and limited at 100K miles for model years 2004 through 2009 RX8 vehicles. A safety-related defect trend has not been identified at this time and further use of agency resources does not appear to be warranted. Accordingly, this investigation is closed. The closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist. The agency will continue to monitor this issue and will take further action if warranted by the circumstances.

The welds break. Honestly I don't think it's an abuse thing, just a defect thing. Mazda agrees from the looks of it. If your pedal starts making a lot of noise when you push it in then it may be starting to break. Mine had a LOT of side to side play in the pedal itself when it started to break as well. At that point I just stopped driving the car and ordered a replacement.

I live in Gardner so if you ever wanted to meet up and talk rotary I'd have no problem making the 10 minute drive!

Perhaps it might also be related to wear. And by that I mean, that I don't have a lot of miles on my 8. This leaves me wondering if after 8 years (I certainly won't break 100k. I'll be lucky to break 60k) my pedal breaks, Mazda may not be too sympathetic to replacing it.

For what its worth, the experiences noted herein will be very helpful to me should I ever start to notice this problem. I appreciate everyone sharing the details.

Over the weekend I traded in my RX-8. I've decided to focus solely on getting rid of all of my debt so the RX-8 was replaced with something much cheaper.

I'll be throwing my test pipe up for sale here soon. Everything else I kept on the car as I didn't really feel like taking it off.

Silver RX-8. Blacked out. Lots of Exterior mods and a few Interior as well. Nothing Performance wise yet. Not very many running around KC that's for sure.

Nope. Normally 60y/o women driving them.

Mine's a red. Couple of minor trim changes. A K&N typhoon intake the only engine mod. So generally boring compared to others. But I just wouldn't go anywhere without it. It's feels sooooooo comfortable and tight to drive.

Oddly enough, I'm not a 60y/o woman. :)
