Black/Red GT w/ Nav at Bommarito!

For those in and around STL:

John Bommarito (St. Peters) got a Black/Red GT w/Nav in this morning. (no port installed options) i just got back from checking it out (they were removing the plastics when i got there).

my co-worker, who was playing around with the idea of getting the 8 but hadn't pre-ordered is going to buy it right now....so unless u guys get over there in the next fews hours u won't be seeing it (except on the road!)

at least i'll get to sit in (and maybe drive?) his until mine gets here.

jonalan 07-16-2003 02:19 PM

ELX13, did they have any info (status) on your car?

ELX13 07-16-2003 03:04 PM

didn't ask. we were on lunch and didn't have much time.

i walked passed my salesman on the way to see the car (which was in the back "prep" area) and i don't think he recognized me until i said hi to him! i said, "i can't wait til mine gets here!" he just smiled and said, "yeah!" or something.

on a more positive note...i made it clear to EVERYONE that was there that my co-worker would've had no idea about the 8 or bommarito had it not been for me talking non-stop about the ride since feb.! i basically sold the car to him and they were facilitating the transaction. gonna try hard to get some kind of referral discount $500, $250, a freakin' t-shirt...SOMETHING!

ELX13 07-17-2003 10:10 AM

he didn't buy it...

here's the scoop:

my co-worker was this close to owning the first RX-8 in missouri yesterday...until bommarito went crazy.

he went through 4-5 hours of paperwork and everything...the deal was signed...done. then the sales manager said, "we need more money from you...$2200." my co-worker put $19K DOWN!, the price was set at MSRP+$200 "customer service fee." the deal was done. then they pulled that shit on him!

it was a complete waste of his time and the salesman's time. if they had told him up front that they wanted $2200 over MSRP he would've walked away and not had to take an impromptu half day off of work.

that's complete BS IMHO.

i was reassured by his salesman (he and my co-worker test drove the car to our office) that pre-order customers would be getting MSRP. we'll see about that. if they try to pull that shit, i'm walking. i don't care how long i've been waiting.

budaman, fubar...are they allowed to do waht they did?

Hello my name is Emmett Jesberg. I take care of the Internet Sales and Customer Service Departments for Bommarito Mazda in St. Peters. I want to first make clear that it is never our intention to conduct "shady" business practices no matter what the demand of the car in question. The RX8 referred to in this posting is our first unit and was not actually to be shown as a vehicle for sale at this time. We have approximately 48 RX8s available in the near future, but we would like to be able to use this car as a demonstrator and for public events until we get a "reasonable" Inventory on hand. At this time Bommarito St. Peters has set the following guidelines for RX8 sales. All RX8s will be sold for MSRP plus any additional equipment or accesories installed. Hopefully this will help clear up any confusion. We really do appreciate the "Enthusiast" customer and believe you are a huge part of Mazda's and Bommarito's success.

Dear Mr. Car Dealer:

Free dealer training: For the sake of god, please STFU.

Why do you think car dealers are unfavorably stereotyped? Lately I have been to a lot of dealers doing test drives. All of the dealers were money hungry punks, except one, a Subaru dealer. I can get better service at a Denny's than most dealers!!! Sell your line of bull somewhere else!

play fair. he is offering explaination. I don't think your bashing is warranted

Cyberben3 07-18-2003 09:04 AM

He's offering an explanation on an RX8 forum, where negative exposure may lead to a negative image of his dealership. This same post, appears on the RX7 forum.

It was *suggested by* the Assistant Attorney General of Illinois, that the people who got screwed by these morons contact the Missouri Attorney General and file a complaint. I know the people his dealership screwed--they're not making anything up.

This just exemplifies every negative experience i've ever had with a car dealer. NOT ALL of them are bad, but shit like this is, as far as I know, is Immoral and Illegal.

this begs a few questions:
1) why were numerous people called by more than one of your salesmen to come down and see if they wanted to snatch it up? (when we got there it still had the plastics on and hadn't gone thru PDI.)
2) why was my co-worker strung along for 4 hours?
3) why wasn't the $2200 markup mentioned BEFORE the 4 hours were wasted?

Wait! He handed them a check for $19,000 and they said 'NO'?

I live in St Louis also. I was going to order from Bommorito Mazda in Ellisville but I was not pleased with the service that I received from them. I ended up going across the river to Auffenberg Mazda and ordered one back in February. They have done a great job keeping me informed about my car and they were straight with me from the beginning about price, time frame etc. I would strongly reccommend visiting Matt Muraski at Auffenberg Mazda in Ofallon, Il which is only about 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis. I have a Red one that should be here middle of next week.

BOOSTD 7 07-18-2003 04:03 PM

Matt, I think it's great that you signed up here. Matthew Long sits right next to me at work, he ordered an 8 from you as well.

I'll leave your post, but we cannot allow free advertising. In the near future we'll have a pricing scheme in place for advertisers. How about considering sending rx8club.com that $100 x 2 for the 2 pre-orders you've had from rx8club members?

If you're interested in advertising, contact me at rx7club@charter.net

Thanks,
Ryan Scott

I was just thinking OMG, there will be advertisng in every thread unless someone does something about it. Thanks admin. I don't mind advertising here. In fact I welcome it if it is done fairly and discreetly. I don't think dealer bashing helps much here so I did not mind a dealer response. Whatever happened, happened. There are always two sides to every story and I have my own thoughts about it based on reading many other threads here.

Having said that, my dealer called me yesterday to invite me to come look at the new RX-8s. Courtesy Mazda received four 8s and three were already sold. On the fourth one the deal apparently fell through but someone else had already made an offer on it.

The car with the offer on it is a beautiful black 8 with the GT package. The leather inserts are the Chapparal brown and look very good. I took a colleague with me from work on my lunch break and he had two main comments. The car is very high quality and "it is destined to be a classic". Personally I like the black paint job but it is just too hot for Las Vegas, NV. Unfortunately with black paint the front fender strake area blends in a bit detracting from the side grill and gorgeous curves. The Black 8 will look better if you also get the fender strakes, rotary accents, and exhaust finishers IMO, because the silver will draw attention to the fine lines. They also had a red 8 and I was stunned by just how beautiful that paint job really is. No wonder Mazda made this their flagship color. I have never seen any red paint quite this nice. The gold flecks are incredible. I ordered the Winning Blue and I look forward to seeing the silver flecks.

SItting in the front seat behind the wheel I noticed that the roof was not too far away. I am 5' 10" so that surprised me but I am long waisted. I am glad I am getting the touring package because it sits a little lower because it is unpowered (from what I have been told). The interior detailing is a delight and any buyer will enjoy it for a long time. I was surprised to see the aluminum bezels on the AC vents. They are listed as an option but were included with the sticker price so that will save anyone getting a GT $98.00 if they wanted to the bezels too. The pedals are beautiful. The trunk was larger than I thought it would be but the spare had not been installed. My colleague sat in the back seat. He is also 5' 10" and could not believe the comfort considering the size of the car. The seats were extremely comfortable and you feel like you are sitting in the cockpit of a jet fighter. The gauge package looks great too. I did not have time to drive the car, but the dealer would have let me drive it a couple of miles. I can hardly wait til mine arrives. It is in the second allocation so I should get it by mid August from what the dealer said.

I am not looking for anything free, so I deleted my two previous posts. I think what a customer says about you is probably enough. Mr. Perkins words say it all.

Sincerely

Rotar_Dude 07-18-2003 05:34 PM

hey blkrx8

hey blkrx8 you how you said the 8's are in kc and ready for delivery. I live in kc and my car was on the tacamo train. Should i get mine tommorow maybe. What do you think. My dealer said i was for sure in their shipment.

RXhusker 07-18-2003 05:36 PM

Didn't he plainly say that they will sell for MSRP plus accessories cost. In other words the extra $2000+ had to have been for accessories which may be reasonable. If it wasn't for legit accessories then we have reason to call the dealer guy a liar.

blkrx8 07-18-2003 05:40 PM

I do not know if they are in KC yet or not. I have been told that is where they are being railed to and then trucked to St Louis. The company that brings them in on truck have no record of the cars yet, he told me that he will not have record of them til they are unloaded and in their possesion. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they are being unloaded now for delivery early next week.

Rotar_Dude 07-18-2003 05:49 PM

thanks

naw husker...the 8 was GT w/ nav. MSRP $33100, no accesories were installed (or coming later). they simply wanted the extra $2200 because, and i quote, "it's the first one in the state of missouri."

91vert 07-20-2003 05:58 PM

OK.....let's not run Emmett off of the forum with all of this negativity of his post. He is the guy that I am buying my car from, and he has been great to work with. He has kept me informed of everything to the best of his ability throughout this entire pre-order process, given me copies of every piece of literature that he has gotten his hands on about the RX-8, gave me 2 free tickets to the auto show, and gave me a VIP invite to the RevItUp. I'm guessing that most of you with cars ordered have not gotten that kind of treatment from your dealership. Anything negative that has come from this whole pre-order process has been totally out of his control, so I don't hold him or Bommarito responsible for that. It has mostly been lack of communication from Mazda that has kind of sucked.

We all know how great it has been having some commrades on this forum who work for dealerships, so I think we ought to welcome his posts. Look how much help ibfubar2000 and some of the other dealership guys have been. I think he is merely trying to "clear the air" with this particular incident, and make it publicly known what they are selling the cars for so there is no confusion about it. I didn't personally think he was trying to do any free advertising.

Unfortunately, what happened with them trying to sell that first car was kinda screwed up. My guess it was not Emmett personally that was trying to sell the car. It was probably a miscommunication that happened at the dealership on what the intent was going to be for this car. Was it to be sold.....parked on the showroom floor.....used for test drives?? Somebody probably started working the deal and then got their hands slapped for doing it and were told by the sales manager to jack up the price in an attempt to keep the car around. This is just a guess....but it was a successful move for them I guess. They still have the car.

Lytspede 07-20-2003 06:56 PM

No, I can't say my dealer has kept me informed on every piece of information (that's what this forum is for). But I can say that he didn't mark my car up $2000+ either just prior to cloing the deal.

Regardless of spinning it as "miscommunication" or an attempt to keep the car on the floor.. at the end of the day shady is shady.
