well im looking for some new summer tires, will most likely be purchasing them friday. not to sure what tires to go with. I really like discount tire and have always bought my tires from them without a single issue. Anyways, i want something good for handling but I also need something that is going to hold up decently. we put alot of miles on the car now since were sharing it and dont want to have to replace them next summer. These i found seem decent and there an all season (which im usually very much against) but the reviews arent bad and its got a decent treadwere rating.. what do you think? any other suggestions also?

I find it funny they only mention the 'EVIL RX8 GUYS', as I recall it their buddy in the white Honda did some revving and some burnouts, uh and the red Speed6 sounding off his mighty blow off valve, backfiring like hell with his 5" exhaust. I had to lol that anyone would cry about engines being revved up that's just ridiculous.
I will be at the SLC Rotary meet this weekend for sure. |
Nice Bose, see ya there! Tim, check out Victors Tires, He has several locations, and he has a tire, I put them on my 8, They are a Trazano N7000. The tread wear is a 360 and I paid $480 for all 4 mounted and balanced! Much better deal! I ran them all winter with no trouble at all.

ill check that out. I just need them for summer really, I have winter tires on the car right now that will last me atleast 1 -2 more winters

Next weekend is supposed to be good. Not as warm as last weekend, but dry and in the 50's. I'll take it. Now the bad news. The tranny in my rusty old Explorer started sounding really funny on the ride home today. I thought it was the slave cylinder starting to go...for over a year, it's been getting harder and harder to get it into gear when it's not moving. Shifts OK when moving. But tonight in the driveway, with it in gear, I had my foot on the clutch and revved it up...and it started to roll forward slowly. So now I think that it could be either the clutch or the slave cylinder. And the front bearing may be on the way out, too. With my luck, I'll need to swap it out for a rebuild. I'm taking it to the shop in the morning, and will drive the company pickup for a day or two. The old Ford is 19 years old, and although it's only got 118,000 miles on it, it's not worth but a couple of hundred bucks. Still, I can't replace it for what it's worth, or what a rebuilt tranny will cost (about a grand), so I may as well keep it on the road for a while longer. The tires only have 8,000 miles on them. It's nice having a 4WD vehicle for those bad storm days in winter, and also not having to worry about it getting dinged in a parking lot somewhere. And it was REALLY nice registering it for only $49 this year! :) |
not sure if all cars are different but when my slave cylinder went out on my integra back in tampa the pedal just lost all pressure and couldnt get into, or out of gear. sounds a bit like yours but in mine it got to where there was no pedal pressure at all.. On that car it was a 20 dollar part, I did the master at the same time just because and I thikn I paid about 150 for parts and labor

wow that sucks. I was going to do my own but it just seemed a little messy haha. although back in tampa was quite different, I was friends with several of the shop owners in the area, here i would have done it my own, dont know anyone therefore dont trust anyone haha

Today has been weird at work.:eyetwitch
Lots of crazy fuckin' people out there, seriously. I think you might as well keep that old beastie running, the seats probably have your butt print in them permanantly after 19 years. You can't give that up. |
Oh and JT you have a PM!:)
|
^Got it, check yours for reply.
I drove the Explorer for the first 5 years, then when my wife wrecked her second Subaru, I let her have it and I drove a Ranger pickup for the next 8 years. Then she bought her Forester, I sold the little truck and took the Explorer back. So I guess I have about ten total years driving it, certainly enough to make a butt print! |
Just talked to the tranny shop. It definitely needs a slave cylinder, and a clutch. It was down almost to the rivets and it was wearing unevenly. Won't get it back until tomorrow. I drove the company truck home tonight.

must be nice!! thats a long ass time in one car, I dont think I could do it. Im only 21 and I have had 8 cars haha.. Recently its been two at a time but I started with a 99 mustang gt, wrecked it and got a 2002 gt, sold that and got a 2002 solara and a 95 civic with a built/turbo integra gsr motor, sold that and got a 1996 integra with fully build all motor set up (200whp), sold that got a 94 toyota pick up with a 12 inch lift and 37" tires, sold that and got a 99 integra ls, I kept that for a year and a half, I absolutely loved it and the only reason I got rid of it was to move here, I Wish I could get another. I also traded in the solara for the rx8 about 1.5 years ago
|
Got it JT, thanks.
I have only had three cars in my life. A 96 Saturn sonething, it was a piece of shit, wrecked rebuild I replaced 4 alternators before just giving up. Then I got a 2002 Sunlight Sliver Mazda Protege. I have always loved that silver, hence my current car color. I rear ended a trailer hitch with a truck attatched to the front, split the rad in half cracked the manifold, frame split in half. Obviously it was totaled, got a check for 5000 and put it down on the 8. |
I have been lucky with most cars, the only one I had to dump alot of money into was the truck, as soon as I bought it I had to put over 500 in rebuilding the front end.. that was just parts haha. The 2002 mustang I put some mods on but that was it as far as money. just intake, full exaust, short shifter etc.

Hey Bose, Thanks again for the pre-mix Saturday! Great ride. I installed my front springs today. I will probably wait until Saturday to do the rears. The front is now slightly lower than the rear, I hope they will settle some and drop a little more. If not I cut a bit more off of the bump stops.
|
if there new it will settle more
|
yeah, that is what I figured! so I will wait a week or two to see how it looks!
|
Sorry Dave I was out when you called last night haha!
|
No problem dude.
It will take the springs about 2 weeks to fully settle, it took my buddies WRX a month to fully settle. I am ordering my H-techs today. |

The car sat in the Cottonwood Mall for like 2 weeks before I could take posession of it, as part of a promotion the dealer was running, with a velvet rope around it. It was a cool car, in it's day. That's when I fell in love with silver as a car color. It's so hi-tech looking. |
77, they had cars back then????

Did you know that we were supposed to have flying cars by now? A Hilton hotel on the moon? Free energy? The funny thing is, as different as some things are now, most things are exactly the same. There are just a few more gadgets that nobody really needs, and everything costs more. |
