Nope, I only have 48,XXX miles on my car. Mazda North America has voided my warranty and flagged my VIN, because "my highflow cat and exhaust caused my engine to lose compression" or some BS to that effect. Which is crap cause my car runs fine and isn't low on power. So the real reason is the dealership was being lazy and wanted to bleed me dry. The only thing my car needed was coils and plugs, haven't had any problems since.

i just rolled over to 90,000 :(

rx8snowboard 01-28-2009 06:33 PM

yeah, looks like its because of shifting with the clutch not fully disengaged so its not covered under warrenty. its gonna cost about 1700 to replace second and third gear :-(

Move your seat forward an inch or two.

bose 01-28-2009 10:01 PM

Make sure they check your clutch pedal, there are spot welds that are know to be weak and break, might be related but not sure.

Tim Tim Tim 01-29-2009 10:31 AM

if they want 1700 to fix an old transimssion, i personally would go for the brand new 09 one for 300 more

bose 01-29-2009 10:50 AM

Hell if you can get a lightened flywheel and clutch installed since they are already down there. BHR can probably get you a good deal on a setup. But I still am curious about your clutch pedal assembly.:squint: The new one I bet would be around 2300 with shipping but to be sure I would still contact Mazmart for sure.

rx8snowboard 01-31-2009 03:12 PM

Thanks for the input guys, I will move my seat up a couple inches lol.

bose 02-02-2009 12:05 PM

Have you had them check your clutch pedal bracket yet?

On a lighter note, I just ordered the BHR yukon coil kit. Should arrive in a couple weeks. I'll let you know more details when the arrive and are installed.

Wtf

So my car is TICKING!!! WTF would cause that?

bose 02-02-2009 01:45 PM

Where is the ticking coming from? Mine ticks after I shut her down, but it's the cat.

04rx8gr 02-02-2009 02:17 PM

lol duh!!! haha jk no my engine is ticking. . . What would even cause a tick in a rotary? I dont run shitty gas at all haha

Tim Tim Tim 02-02-2009 10:32 PM

rod knock :)

Jethro Tull 02-03-2009 01:11 AM

^^ :rollingla

04rx8gr 02-03-2009 09:34 AM

. . . . Sad thing is . . its getting worse :( Blah . . to the mazda dealership i go next week :(

bose 02-03-2009 09:53 AM

Your not getting any cel's either? I really don't know, only thing I can think of is maybe an exhaust leak at the manifold, I've seen it on a few cars. Does the ticking get any louder with raising the rpm's?

Jethro Tull 02-03-2009 09:55 AM

Post it in the Issues and Problems forum, see if it's a common problem. Bose, what do you think about the fuel pump? Is it under the hood, or in the back?

bose 02-03-2009 10:08 AM

The fuel pump is in the tank and under the passenger rear seat. I would agree with you if it was under the hood though.

04rx8gr 02-03-2009 10:47 AM

. . . it ticks faster the higher the RPMS. . . but doesnt get louder. . . Its coming from inside the engine :(

bose 02-03-2009 12:34 PM

Semantics Schemantics, That's what I was leaning towards. My internet diagnostic is exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold. But it's kind of a shot in the dark w/o seeing it.

rx8snowboard 02-03-2009 09:50 PM

didn't have them check the pedal but I did ask them about that when I talked to them, they said it wasn't that.. I get my baby back tomorrow and I am going to do a good walkaround and cleaning :-). Hey, I know it was alot of money but I am going to be sooo happy to have my 8 back and driving the rotary again lol

Sorry about the problems bro, hope you get it fixed without to much money or time :icon_no2:

Jethro Tull 02-04-2009 12:18 AM

Every time I read about an 8 with a problem, the next time I'm in mine I'm always listening, paranoid! My engine has been flawless in the nearly 2 years since I drove her off the lot. 8580 miles as of today. It was so nice when I opened the garage today, that I left the Explorer home and drove the 8 to work. And I rarely drive it at all in December, January, and February, scared of the salt monster. I've only put about 100 miles on her since Thanksgiving.

Say, who's premixing around here, besides me and bose?

bose 02-04-2009 04:48 PM

And is anyone running any thing other that 5w20 dino oil? I am thinking of switching to Redline 5w30. Rest of the world uses that grade and we have more engine failures vs. rest of the world, and if nothing else do it to spite the EPA and their emissions.

04rx8gr 02-05-2009 12:30 AM

bad news :(

Well on my way home from work today. . . my engine all the sudden popped and started running on like Half of the engine only then died and wont start back up. . . so its sittin down at D. Dayle mazda now :( and i have no money to even get it fixed :( sad!!!!
