Second Annual Rocky Mountain RX-8 Club meet coming 6/4-5!!!

It's almost time to for the SECOND ANNUAL ROCKY MOUNTAIN RX8 CLUB ANNUAL MEET!!!. The dates for this blast of an event are Saturday June 4th and Sunday June 5th.

The format of the meet will be pretty much the same as last year, with us
starting off by rallying at a central location in Denver - most likely McDonald Mazda again, but it depends on how many plan to attend as we may need a larger venue. Then after several hours of visiting, eating, prizes and such, we MAY have a Guest Speaker. Here's the secret: I've been working with Mazda corporate since November of last year to get a Mazdaspeed engineer to attend our little meet, and it's looking really promising! I don't have confirmation yet, but cross your fingers!

After the speaker and some time to gas up and relax a bit, we'll line up and do a group RX-8 drive up one of those lovely curving mountain roads culminating with dinner at the top somewhere. Later that evening we'll have a pre-track driving "mini-school" and call it a night.

The next day will be track day, with us most likely going to Continental Raceway in Mead again unless we can get into Second Creek with another club. Still working on that. And for those of you who don't want to track your car, we may well have a portable dyno come to the track and a few other fun things as well, like another mountain road drive. We'll see.

SO WHAT I NEED from everyone at this point to continue our planning is a ROLL CALL from those of you who plan on attending the MAIN MEET on SAT 6/4, and a second ROLL CALL from those of you who will be around on Sun 6/5 and if you PLAN TO RUN THE TRACK. Please respond to info@rockymountainrx8.com with your plans.

I ***REALLY*** hope to see everyone in the club attend, plus all the RX-7 folks in the area, and ANYONE who has interest is WELCOME. As last year's attendees will tell you, this event is a BLAST.

Finally, I hope some of you will volunteer to help set this event up. My time is severly limited and I cannot put as much time into planning this as I did last year. So please let us know if you can help. We need someone to run down the track thing, someone to contact vendors and try to get raffle prizes donated, someone to plan the mountain drive and line up a restaurant at the top, someone to arrange for a hotel for out-of-state folks, someone to call people who don't respond to this email, etc etc. Many hands make light work so I sure hope we get a lot of volunteers! :-)

So that's it! Feel free to contact me with any questions at the club's main email address of info@rockymountainrx8.com Can't wait to see you all again or meetcha for the first time!

Well, it's not exactly the Rx8 meet, but I plan to have the Rx8 out to 2nd Creek May 13th thru 15th to run with the Rocky Mountain Audi Club. FWIW, we will also be at Pike Peak Int. Raceway for the USSS open track days event May 6th to the 8th. If any one is insterested in the PPIR event, (you can do it one, two or all three days at a time) get in touch with Leslie Howard at http://www.quickchickracing.com or is it www.quickchicksracing.com

Cheers

mlx8, thanks for the link! I bounced around their site a little and saw that they also have dates for later in the year. Continental is a fun track for those who have never been there, I know that Omi, Dplore, and I all had a great time out there! There are some pix up on the RMRX8Club site from last year.
As Omi said, we'd really like to see a roll call of everyone who's considering the track time, it kinda helps us with the planning. Remember, it's only a month away!:D
If anyone needs info or directions to where Continental Divide Raceway is, here ya go:
(From the Denver area): I-25 North, to the Mead exit, (245), turn right,(East) about 1/2 -3/4 miles, and a left turn into the paddock. You can't miss it.
See everyone at the meet!:D

Just a quick update on the meet... I spoke to Omicron earlier this evening, and we are hopeful to have some serious progress made this week. Keep checking back both here and on the clubs web site, as announcements will be forthcoming. I am going to send an email later in the week regarding the status of things, (as soon as I get a few minutes to compile all the emails, responses from here, and on the club site). So far the New Mexico contingent is Kewl & MadDog, any others? Ron-D? BarryAbel? Bueller? Anyone? :D
If anyone has responded to the last email that Omicron sent from the clubs mailbox, I apologize, he and I have been working on new projects that have been consuming much of our time lately, but we haven't forgotten about the club. With the date fast approching, we are going to devote as much time as possible to making sure the event goes as good, no - better than last year. Please contact me or Omicron via PM if you have any questions. As I said, keep an eye open, we'll be posting soon!:D

Thanks for the update. BarryA won't be able to make it and I haven't heard from anyone else in NM...one way or the other. Hopefully we will soon. For now it is just MadDog and myself coming up.

Well... I haven't got the turbo yet, but I wanted to quickly get a plug in here for the Rocky Mountain Club. If you're interested in joining our little group, you send an email to us at rockyinfo@rockymountainrx8.com . I hope to see you in a month!

Well... the location is confirmed for Saturday. It will be at McDonald Mazda, on S. Broadway in Littleton. We're in the process of finalizing the details and there will be an announcement next week. We'll be posting it here, on our web site and sending out emails to everyone.

MadDog. I'll be leaving ABQ earlier then I had planned on Friday Jun 3. I have to attend a business function in Colorado Springs at 2pm, so I'll be leaving at 6 or 7 am. If you want to leave that early we can drive up together. If not then I'll see you in Denver.

I'm staying at the same location most of the out of town folks stayed last year, AmeriSuites at 9030 East Westview Rd in Lone Tree. Easy freeway access. Fair rates too. Of course if the locals comes up with another, better place, I'll switch. The AmeriSuites is reasonably close to the meeting location, or at least it isn't hard to get there from the hotel.

I'll have to check with the lady-friend. She's going to go up to visit friends in CO while I play. We might actually be going up on Thursday. If we go on Friday, I'd be up for leaving early. We thought about taking the "back way" and seeing the sights on the drive up.

If you have the time I highly recommend taking the "back way". The sights are worth the extra time. I won't be able to this time due to the need to be in Colorado Spring early Friday afternoon. Darn the luck! Be sure to take a camera!

I'm coming from Utah, and I'm looking at staying here:

Hotel Denver Tech Center
7801 East Orchard Road
Englewood CO 80111
800-346-8357

It's about the same distance as Amerisuites, and if you book it on hotels.com it's only $59.00 a night.

If anyone else desides to stay there, let me know so we can make sure to meet each other.

edit: Mapquest says it's in Greenwood Village, so I don't know exactly what city it's in. It is right off of I-25, and the address, zip, and phone number should be correct. On hotels.com just search for littleton, CO.

If anyone is heading down from the Laramie area, or for that matter, Ft. Collins/Cheyenne, and would like to caravan together... I am going to be at the Kum-n-Go on N 3rd on Saturday morning at around 6:00 AM, and leaving here no later than 6:30. Anyone interested in meeting up in Ft. Collins, there is a rest area on I-25 around exit 267, (I can't remember exactly where), and I should be there around 7:30 - 7:45. I plan on using E-470, and if anyone who is involved in this caravan does not have an expresstoll pass, you can get one here. Otherwise, it's $8.50 one way with six or seven tollbooths along the way. This should end us up at McDonald Mazda at 9:00 - 9:30.
Either chime in here or PM me for arrangements!:D

If anyone else is picky about having more secure parking, the Radisson at Parker rd/I-225 has underground parking and reasonable rates ($69 a night). That's where I'll be.

My bad, I forgot to update myself. I was looking at that hotel and had not decided on it yet, I was looking for input mainly at that time. I finally decided on the Wyndham Denver Tech Center Hotel. So I will be up about 2 blocks from you. PM me with your phone number and I can call you when we are out there and we can meet and drive to the Meet if you want.

No internet access until today so missed your last message. Sorry about that. I would likely pick the amerisuite used last year if I had to do over. Tech Center was not a bad place, just no wireless internet...bad...

Casey,

Have they fixed your CEL issue, and if they did what did they find?
