hello I’m still here looking for an engine thanks to cj for letting me know about your engines for sale and your knowledge really appreciate it. But can’t hurt to keep looking for something local. Just need a good running engine or a wrecked car with good engine. Willing to travel and pull the engine myself if needed. Hopefully something will pop up thanks to all on this fourum and the support. Hope to hear from anyone soon. :)

yeah for sure. My rear rotor is toast. Put a boroscope lost either one or all three apex seals. The housing looks scored up also but I can’t make out the depth of em. Either way it definitely gonna need new housing. The rotor may survive and maybe the iron also. It’s just way high to rebuild em. And I’m the kinda guy if I’m going to rebuild I’ll be in it for well over 4K no sense in doing a simple rebuild when your that far apart with it. I’ve found few engines that are supposedly already rebuilt with port jobs and Atkins apex seals ect. But I haven’t made it to the vehicles to test em out. Plus I don’t have a Mazda compression tester specifically for the renesis. But the engines are still in the vehicles and i can start em and drive around. At least check the compression with a regular tester (without the shrader valve in) should give me a pretty close idea how good they are. Price difference is huge like 1000$ compared to the 4K if I do it myself. I appreciate you looking out for me a lot of people don’t know about those issues and the reman engines from catapillar that had basically zero quality control. So I’ve got ads all over Craigslist in different states and on here. Was hoping I could find a middle ground prIce range one that has proof of rebuild with compression numbers for 1700$-2500$ lol. I’m in New Mexico. So far the best one I found is 8 hrs away and I have to pull it! But they drop down pretty easy plus I’ll get the tranny for free. Just wish I could borrow one of those Mazda compression testers or buy one ya know. If you hear of one for a decent price let me know. Same on the engines 6 port. Really appreciate you looking out. Not many people do anymore these days.

so it was 3,000 for a Mazda reman? Any type of warranty and also how much credit did they give you for the core and shipping. Oh and did the credit go towards the 3000$ ? Or was that about what it cost after the credit was applied. I didn’t even think about that. I thought about getting a series 2 engine to have the extra oil injector but not sure about those either. Thank you soo much for your info and knowledge it’s very kind of you most people want to charge me for info like that even small stuff. Please let me know thank you again.

The total price for mine came to ~$3200 after tax. I would have had to pay an additional $1000 if I hadn't returned my engine. Shipping varies in price from dealer to dealer. Some dealers won't ship, others charge as little as $125.

Google "N3H3-02-200R-V0" and you'll get a ton of hits for engines starting around $2875. The link I posted earlier is for the one in ABQ so it's geographically close but you might find better deals elsewhere. Make sure you call the dealer and verify all of the details. You have to return your engine to the dealer you purchased the reman from. So, if you have to ship, you'll get to learn all about LTL freight shipping. This is why I decided to deal with the transport myself. Between tax and freight, I probably broke even.

Basically, you pull everything off your old engine except the oil pan, water pump, crank pulleys, and flywheel. The reman engine will come with those items plus a new thermostat and gasket set. If your dealer is willing to play ball like mine was, you just take the old engine to them. The reman will come in a big black container. They should give yours a quick once-over to make sure you aren't trying to scam them and take the reman out of the container and put your engine back in for shipping back to the reman facility. My dealer dealt with the core charge right there.

A series 2 engine won't work in a series 1 car without eliminating the OMP altogether so the extra oil injectors won't help you.

And yeah I’m the S2 you gotta Pre mix and the PCM has to see the OMP plugged in so you gotta tuck it up in there plugged in but your right the third injector wouldn’t matter at that point. Funny how you don’t think of things til later like that. And that’s what this forum is all about it’s so helpful. And nice to be talking to someone local.
