John Elway Mazda?

Hey guys I need to take my car to get fixed. I am pretty sure it is covered under the warranty I found a TSB for it on Rosenthel website. The front brakes squeal pretty bad when I am braking. I made an appointment with John Elway Mazda because that is what people have been saying where they have had good experiences all around on the forums. When I talked to them on the phone I was trying to explain it to them and they just kept talking about brake dust, and I understand that is one of the first things that people come up with when brakes squeak or make whatever type of noise. What I am wondering is if since there are a couple of other things I want them to look at, like a rough idling issue when in neutral the car kind of gets the shakes every now and then but no change in the RPMs at all. The big question I was reading some threads on how people get loaner cars from dealerships while there car is getting fixed, now is this if it is under warranty or is it at the dealers discretion.. P.S. I also want the oil stick changed to the new "easier" to read one. Thanks for all the help guys :)

just list them exactly like what you just said in your post (but put it in a LIST), and make sure your service advisor writes each item down clearly as well, then they should be able to take care of it.

I think loaner car IS at the discretion of dealership, I work close enough to the dealer that they just dropped me off at work, then I had to find a ride back to the dealer to pick up the car :o

I'll be a nice guy and write down your concerns in a list:

- front brakes squealing/lots of brake dust.
- rough idle
- requests new dipstick assembly

I think a resonable dealership should be able to take care all 3 items for you :)

good luck

Thanks for the help. :) If it is up to the dealer for the loaner you think I would get another 8, I can't go long without mine lol :D

Oh one thing I forgot. The middle console button is that under warranty or considered something that I would have to replace does anyone know. Also it looks like that side mirrors are starting to warp where they are attached to the car, it's kinda hard to explain but I am going to have them check it out too.

yeah definitely, just make sure you clearly state exactly what you think is wrong with the car, it's best to do it in person and show it to the advisor than trying to tell him over the phone :)

State what is wrong in a list and BRING the TSB's with you! It pays off to show you have done research. The Dealership I bought from said they always give out a loaner. I went to Sill-Terhar. I haven't been in yet for anything so I don't know for sure.

I use John Elway for everything on my Mazda (and I live closer to Sil-Terhar). They offer a free shuttle to a place you specify (within reason), but I have not asked for a loaner. I find they are very honest, and do exactly what is required. I am totally happy with them!

One other thing that really impresses me: after EVERY visit (regardless if it is service or to pickup parts), I ALWAYS recieve a call asking me about my experience! I think they really care about their customers and that's probably why Elway is such a trusted name in this city (even though I'm a Cowboys fan. HA!) :p

Well I took my car there and I was very satisfied with the way that they handled things. I took a list of what I wanted done and I didnt take the TSBs with me but I told them that I was pretty sure that it was covered undered warranty. They had to order the brakes so I will have squealing ones for another week or so. They fixed the middle console button for free under warranty. There was an issue with the side mirrors and they said it was due to heat and there was nothing they could do about it. What was happening is that it looks like they are coming off of the actual door; not really noticeable but I saw it. If anyone know anything about this or a way to keep it from doing this please let me know. Also they said the rough idling was "normal" that was the only thing that bothered me. I dont really think that any kind of hiccup should be normal, and they said that "all rx-8s" do it. I would like to know if this is true as well. Other than that minor exception I will take my car back to John Elway again it was overall a good experience. I forgot to mention the dipstick so maybe I will go next time with the TSB to get the easier to read one.

My car idles between 700-800 rpm, but I do not notice any rough idling.

If you can take a picture of your mirrors, I would like to understand what is wrong with them. My mirrors are okay, but my car stays in the garage.

I will try to post the pics as soon as i can but its not very noticeable i dont think it was just something i noticed one day. Yes mine idles a little bit below 1k probably 900 or so but every, (this is a guess here) I would say every 5 seconds or so it has this hiccup is the only way i can really describe it where it shudders sometimes more violent than other times. But the RPMs dont change which is why I dont think it is normal. A better way to describe the mirrors for the time being would be to say at the corners of them(where the solid piece is attached to the car) they seem to be getting warped or the glue(or whatever they use) is coming off. My car is garaged overnight which is good for the winter here but in the summer it is outside during most of the day while I am at work.

Called the dealership back today, because I never got one back from them to tell me my parts were in and I have been kind of busy. But they said they have the brake parts in to fix and i need to make an appointment. First thing I did was ask them about the recall and the first guy said he new nothing about it and found someone who did, and he didnt know much about it though. What I am wondering is if the recall is "official" which i'm not sure if it is yet since i have not recieved a letter yet, will they keep my car until the parts come in or will they just fix the brakes and give it back to me. I dont wanna drive a beater loaner (yes it is very superficial) but all I am saying is I paid for a car that I want to drive not some chevy aveo or whatever it is. The guy on the phone didnt have an answer for me and said he would call me back. So i guess i can wait, in the meantime any advice from anyone about what i should do or i could just wait for them to call back which would be who knows way
