Colorado Emissions

Has anyone installed a tubo that has passed emissions? I am ready but have been unable to get an answer to the "will it pass emissions?" question. I was looking at the greddy.

I haven't but I just wanted to post and say hello, I was wondering if there were any other Shinkas in Colorado

Don't see them around much, huh?
I probably see about 1 RX8 a month.

I'm starting to think I might just be the "test rat" for this. Wonder if they would give me a discount to try . . ..

Vortarian, let us know what happens & your experience. I'm still a year away, but I'd be interested in how 'hard' it is to get an 8 through the test. Thanks!

I wouldn't sweat it too much. Thankfully Colorado ain't anal like California. Yet...

Passing emissions is mostly about testing the gas cap, visually verifying the existence of a catalytic converter, and sniffing the tailpipe for exhaust emissions. Before I got the 8, I had a Vortech supercharger in my 98 Mustang GT convertible. It always passed with flying colors.

I expect my GReddy-enhanced 8 to pass without much fuss, primarily because the engine is completely under computer supervision for anything short of pressing your right foot to the carpet.

Thankfully, I won't need to find out for another year.

Joemama,
If you're in the denver area, would you be willing to get an emissions check if I paid for it? I know a place that won't say anything if you were to fail . . .
I mainly want to know so I can figure out if I need to plan for further labor in an installation.

Oops...sorry. Didn't see this post. My bad...

An easier approach would be to register and drive by one of those sniffer vans. Which I may do just for grins.

As I said before, I don't think it will be an issue. When I went thru for emission testing with my Mustang, it always passed with ease. And, I never got any grief over the modifications, other than "WHOA DUDE!! THAT ROCKS!!!" from all the techs that would surround the car when the hood went up.

Say, who did the installation on your turbo?
