NMOcho, I think we all share in your sadness. And we are equally pleased to know that you are doing very well...all things considered. I don't think the picture does justice to the abuse the 8 took in it's battle with the truck. Perhaps it speaks well of the success of the designers of the car...protect the occupancy at all cost.

I know you have much to consider and pursue in the coming weeks...but if there is anything we can do you know how to get in touch with us. Feel free to call.

Here are a few pictures taken at track day. We didn't spend much time taking pictures...and besides it is hard getting a good picture of a car moving so fast...right?

GREAT. Thanks for the pix!

PS: I think that it's a mixed bag on fun to drive. The 8 has more power and great handling. The Miata's had the race seat and belting as well as handling. Those seats and belts really let you be able to feel what the car was doing.

Throw a seat and restraints in a 8 and the decision is clear!

Kewl 04-29-2007 10:29 PM

I think you're right. I would have dearly loved to have that five point harness in the 8. It would have really made a big difference.

stinger 04-29-2007 10:31 PM

I am sure glad you are OK Ocho!! If there is anything I can do or you need feel free to give me a call or let me know! You were there (as I know everyone else would have been had I asked) when I had my own problems!

As for Track Day?????? It was one heck of a blast!!!! I dont know about the Miata? It was alright to drive, but it sure was not no 8!! I felt at home behind the wheel of the 8 unlike the Miata. All that aside the Instructors were great and very patient & understanding. I know that I have a lot of room to improve, but I also learned one heck of a lot too! Hey Kewl how come I dont see any yeller cars in those pics? LOL!!! Oh well at least there isnt any Ti pics either! LOL! I really have to thank you Kewl for one of the most FUN & INVGORATING DAYS that I have had in a LONG, LONG, LONG TIME!!! I agree about doing this again in October!

I also think we all ought to try to get another drive set up. Maybe we could meet up at a Sonic, say like the one on Eubank & have an early lunch and then head out and down south 14 or up north 14. Or we could possibly head north up into the Jemez and cross over into LA stopping to have lunch along the way!

I agree as well! I have acutally considered installin one in the 8. Then after finding out that you can install one and still have a functioning/adjustable seat, I am giving it even more thought!

I had a great time, thanks for all your help and for organizing a great event. I learned a lot about driving the cars. Even the the drive home seemed somehow different....

Aug03-rx8 04-30-2007 12:09 AM

And Kewl, thanks for the photos! Really it was raining when my whipers were on!

Kewl 04-30-2007 11:20 AM

Aug03...I thought maybe you were doing something like what MadDog likes to do on the track, use his turn signals. Actually they were very close to showing the red flag because of the rain, but it stopped while they were looking for the flag.

Stinger, I felt I shouldn't take any pictures of the yellow 8 since I was driving right behind it. There just wasn't any spare time while driving on the track. You were never on the track in your 8 when I was trying to take pictures. I tried...honest.

Sorry there weren't more pictures. Lets see drive the track or take pictures...track won!

No doubt! If I had, had my way I think I would still be out there  ! It definately was the most fun I have ever had! Thanks again Kewl for all the effort that you put into setting this event up!

Kewl 04-30-2007 07:35 PM

Okay everyone....do we try for another track day in October? Or is there another timeframe that would be better for everyone? Let's start talking a time now so that we can all make plans...

Comments?

Kewl and the gang,

Sorry I missed track day. I really wanted to be there. I was on my way to the track when I heard about Justin's mishap. I stopped to help and give him my support and it just took the wind out of my sails. I couldn't leave him on the side of the road....even though he told me it would be okay.

It looks like you all had a great time! I would love to try again in October. The middle of the month will probably be better for me.

Thanks again for setting it up, Kewl, and sorry I didn't make it.

Kewl 05-07-2007 09:09 AM

en fuego...sorry you didn't make it to the track, but you did the right thing so we will look for you in October.

Speaking of October, we have one vote for Mid-Oct for the next track day...anyone else want to post on their desires for when we have another track day?

stinger 05-07-2007 05:42 PM

Mid- October is fine with me at this time Kewl!!

RX8PDX 05-08-2007 06:05 AM

Please make it a Saturday :) I work on Sundays.

And my b-day is the 20th :D

Chakara 05-09-2007 11:13 PM

I've been having some thoughts about the track day. PS: Great time even if I did end up in the dirt.

Anyway, what will our insurance companies say if something did happen to the car while on the track? Has anyone looked? I suspect that anything that happens out there would be at our own expense, I just wondered.

Chakara 05-10-2007 10:50 PM

A few more.....

Thats hard to say. They dont cover racing. Racing is against a clock or another person. Technically a track day is just legal speeding around the track. They really cant call it abuse, because the car was made for this. And its not really a competition.

So going to the drags.... thats clearly not covered.

But I would suspect you would need to argue that with a lawyer on your side.

RX8PDX 05-14-2007 09:34 PM

Also I got a Nikon D50, so if I can make it to the next track day I will take tons of pictures.
