I would also like to know if black illuminated shift knob is available? Never got any reply from Trussville Mazda by email

moRotorMotor 09-22-2006 08:53 PM

Is this the cheapest place to get this illuminated shift knob? If so, I want in too.

samspick 09-22-2006 09:57 PM

Mazdaspeed RX8 ver2 09-23-2006 02:27 AM

Cromax 09-29-2006 08:31 PM

Yeah, the illuminated shift know would be grouse!

Keef 10-07-2006 04:10 PM

wow, awesome to see no response from Trussville... I'll promise them a deal... I won't buy anything from them...

Conundrum 10-17-2006 06:09 PM

okay... finally got a little update

Trussville Mazda do not have black in stock, do not plan to restock, and do not know who they can refer us to...

Any one that plan to do a group buy that can match/beat Trussville's price?

Shift Knob

My US interface with Mazda defintely does not like the part numbers (invalid part numbers for us dealers here in the states), which means I can't order it from Mazda US. I'll snoop around Mazda tomorrow and see what the word is.

Conundrum 10-17-2006 08:40 PM

That is because MazdaUSA did not release it here... I assumed you knew that...

ocmazda 10-18-2006 12:34 AM

Yes I figured as much. I'll do some investigation. What was trussville selling it for?

Conundrum 10-18-2006 01:17 AM

it is still on their site, but only Black/Chaparral is listed, same price though

Newbie vendor not knowing wtf he's doing...

and advertising in another vendors forum...

:wtf:

ocmazda 10-19-2006 06:38 PM

Sorry

Sorry guys - Yes I am new to this, and no I did not know this was Trussville's own space. Certainly did not mean to intrude. If anyone knows the admin, ask him to check his email. I have made repeated attempts to get info on becoming a sponsoring vendor with no reply. Good luck on your quest for the shift knob.

Jedi54 10-19-2006 06:46 PM

ocmazda: send PM to Zoom44 for Vendor info.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had an illuminated shift knob fitted to their RX8? If so, I would like to know if I need to install a relay into the fuse box.
I would also like to know if the knob stays illuminated all the time or only when the driving lights are on?

BoosTED 01-17-2008 03:59 AM

You don't have to install a relay.

It taps into the 12v plugin under the ash tray console.

Polak did a DIY on it:

Must be for looks... I can't imagine anyone having to look at their shifter to see the gear pattern,, even in the dark!!! hehehehe,, sorry i just had to say it.

BoosTED 01-17-2008 05:07 AM

It is more for the people that don't drive the car often enough to know the shift pattern like the back of their hand.

Examples: service techs, significant others...

And it has a polished look to it.

Too bad it doesn't light up the gear that it is in. :dunno:
