This will be a reman unit built inhouse by Rick Engman.

morkusyambo 11-20-2008 09:52 AM

Are we talking RX8 LSD w/ the new ratios, or a rebuilt RX7 diff??

This is a RX8 Diff with the different ratios. Thanks.

Sheldon.

Brettus 11-20-2008 12:48 PM

Just curious - why do you want those ratios Morkus ?

Mazmart 11-20-2008 02:20 PM

These are the same as units we have built for some of the sharper people in PR who have big power in their 8s. If you're generating enough torque there's not much reason for a 4.4 gear.

We can build diffs for many requirements including from 4.778 to 3.9 ratios.

Paul.

morkusyambo 11-20-2008 03:59 PM

Brettus, i'm generating enough low end torque that 1st and 2nd w/ the SC kit, are pretty much useless(IMO) for WOT runs.

Paul. What if I just wanted to purchase the 3.9 or 4.1 ring gear and install it myself? What would be the price then?

$450 plus shipping. Be careful in taking on a project like this unless you've built differentials before. Setting up endplay and backlash is a precise art; done properly you can have great durability and of course the opposite applies as well.

Paul.

What kind of warranty do you offer for the complete unit??

get more grip/traction rather than slowing your car down with taller ratios.

Mazmart 11-21-2008 08:17 AM

There are reasons that a manufacturer chooses their various ratios (Numerous reasons). As we modify our cars we make decisions based on OUR needs and calculations to suit our goals. These can include: improving acceleration in certain ranges (Both higher and lower can achieve this depending on your circumstance), improving fuel economy, reducing annoying highway rpms, increasing top speed and reducing excessive wheel spin.

For the NA cars, many have noted improved acceleration by moving to the lower gears (4.778) but when you have sufficiently increased your bottom end torque and have plenty of horsepower to spare you may no longer even need the torque multiplication factor of the 4.44. Judging when you're at that point is up to the end user (Owner). This is part of the fun of owning tuneable performance cars, being able to make your own decisions in tailoring YOUR ultimate machine.

Paul

You would be right if we were talking about a stock car.

Just curious, you haven't done any 5.10's for the Grand-am guys?

Nope, but we build engines for some race teams currently. I should be able to provide a 5.12 gearset if someone needed it but it could become quite expensive.

Paul.

morkusyambo 11-22-2008 08:00 PM

What would be the different rpms in 6th with the 4.1 vs. the 3.9 @70mph??

morkusyambo 11-24-2008 11:13 AM

Anybody know what rpm the car would be at with these different diff. ratios @70mph??

What about max speed in 2nd and 3rd gear??
