This time it won't be covered under warranty.

My luck has been terrible lately.. A mirror, a sunroof (which hasn't been installed yet) and now this, which is just irritating because i'll have to pay for it.

Here's the pics:

So for those who cant figure it out, there's now a huge crack in my windshield.
I drove to work this morning, drove to lunch got on the highway to go home and noticed a vertical crack. About half way home, it had spread to the right (left in the picture) and so I got out of the car. That's when I noticed that it went all the way to the bottom edge of the windshield (you couldnt tell from the inside).

So now I wonder how much this will cost me...

$472 from the company my insurance company reccommends.. yay..

Ajax 04-02-2005 03:41 PM

$615 from another local company.

dazygirl415 04-02-2005 03:49 PM

:( I'm sorry.

Ajax 04-02-2005 03:59 PM

my car hates me.

dazygirl415 04-02-2005 04:05 PM

No it doesn't. It's just going through some "changes."

Check it out. It got longer in over the last four hours while it was sitting in my garage! I didn't even drive it!

dazygirl415 04-02-2005 08:29 PM

Just repeat to yourself: everything will be o-kay. :o

canaryrx8 04-02-2005 08:38 PM

it could be worse, I don't get my car back until May from all the hail damage it received, I'd love to be in your shoes right now compared to that.

dazygirl415 04-02-2005 08:39 PM

Agree, 5 wks on Mon.

Ajax 04-02-2005 08:42 PM

I wonder if putting in the new mirror is what caused the window to crack...

Ajax 04-02-2005 08:44 PM

yea.. i understand that..
if i was out of this car for that long, i'd be totally upset.
blah.. just irritates me that it's 1 thing after another.

canaryrx8 04-02-2005 09:45 PM

I can relate, my previous vehicle was a rolling catastrophe, I got rear ended about 7 times, had stuff breaking all the time/going wrong etc.. main reason I had so much mods on the thing were because every time I'd have to fix something I'd upgrade it in hopes it would not come back to haunt me lol

probably part of it.
I measured it today (it's gotten longer again).
It's now approximately 18.25" in total length.

Speaking of insurance won't they cover it?

Also, many insurance companies offer zero-deductible repair for windshield chips. Next time you get a chip check your coverage and get it repaired for free before it turns into a $500 crack.

if you've ever had chip repair work done, you know that doing chip repair can crack the window itself.. it sucks..

Well, I went through this last summer only it was a lug nut off a big rig that hit my windshield. The price was $724, but that was because I turned it into my insurance company and had to pay a $500 deductable. If I had just had it done without insurance the price would have been $424 and I would have saved $76 bucks. Just an FYI. It's a racket.

I had a rock hit it back in the fall and chip it, but no crack. I drove to work this morning, drove to lunch got on the highway to go home and noticed a vertical crack.
